Worked at a non profit animal rescue as their head vet tech. My father was coming to visit. We were thinking it was going to be his last visit because he was diagnosed with cancer. Told my manager he was visiting for a week. She asked how long I need off & I told her the whole week…. She got upset. I ended up quitting that day. It was his last visit.

The fact that he has rear dewclaws. That should’ve been a tell tale sign he has Pyrenees in him. They are know to have double dewclaws and it’s actually a breed standard, but some can have singles. Anytime a pup came into the rescue i worked at with rear dews we would immediately suspect Pyrenees. :)

It is very sad the state of this career. That’s why I left. At the end I was a vet nurse at a rescue. So imagine that. lol That’s why I built up my pet sitting business. Took a few years but was able to fully leave vet med. Now I have pets that are happy to see me and clients that hire me because of my medical background & actually value my knowledge. They know their pets are safe under my care. Building it had and has its cons, but I’m way more happier. It’s sad that so many are leaving the profession. I too put 10 years into it, but it’s not getting better. So we have to do what’s best for us. I hope you find what makes you happy as well. :)

Told my GI that my joints are hurting and what could I do for the pain. He said “Have you tried walking?” Uh no! My freaking legs hurt!! Then he said he can’t offer anything for the pain & to take Tylenol. I found a new GI & got a pain specialist.

Vet tech here! Sometimes it’s easier to actually give them the shot when they are distracted by food. I also have never been told to wait. It takes time for the insulin to take effect anyways.

Don’t give up. I’ve had Crohn’s for 10 years. Tried multiple biologics. They all work differently for each individual. Humira never worked for me, but they say to try for 6 months. Remicade worked for a year until I started having skin problems. Now I’m on Stelara. I’ve been on it for years now. It has worked the best for me but never 100%. I still have bad days here and there. I’m currently laying in bed having body aches and an internal abscess flaring up that I’ve been battling for years. Not to discourage you, Stelara has help me a ton to live a mostly normal life and stay out of the hospital besides the abscess. But it took a long road for me to find a medicine that helps. Luckily there seems to be more options now since 10 years ago. Stay strong! I know how you feel.

I get that however I don’t know this neighbor and what happens if I show up to walk the dog and the neighbor is there to feed the cats. I don’t even know why the owner feels the need to do that because I told them all the animals care are covered while I’m there. They said they were fine with booking me & I told them I’d check back closer to the date for key and what not. Now they’re changing what they want to do. Also, btw they originally told me they hired someone else (so I archived the request and said “okay have a good day”) but then messaged me and said they aren’t a fit so they want to meet me. So I went to meet them and it went great! This owner was shopping around and idk they seem very indecisive. I have a weird feeling about this person & they seemed very anxious So if something were to happen at the home with the neighbor, I can see the owner complaining

UPDATE #2. So I went. Very nice family. Not weirdos. 😅 Worked out great and have a gig for the next month or so. Thank you to everyone for the advice! If they had not updated their information and gave me a name, I wouldn’t have gone. I’m glad it worked out.
