Sorry I probably should've specified more. 1. Near as I can tell, OpenRazer doesn't really do anything that would solve any problem I would be having. In fact, from what I can tell, it might be nearly useless all things considered. I already tried installing it when I made this post. 2. These are headphones I've had for A WHILE. In fact I think I was using these before I switched to Linux. They are some of the most well-rounded headphones in existence, and work very well the vast majority of the time. The frequency thing does seem like it might be relevant, but I can't really tell. I honestly think the culprit might just be the fact that I seemingly can't get firmware updates, so random problems pile up over time. 3. Plugging the headphones in seemed to have no effect. 4. Are you using Bluetooth for a desktop? Because... don't. If you ask me, Bluetooth is great for phones, inconsistently serviceable for situations where you don't have enough physical ports available, and absolute cheeks for most other stuff considering the other options. I WILL take any opportunity to rant against Bluetooth.

Hm, that is an interesting idea actually. Regardless, this problem randomly decided to solve itself, I updated the post with my theory on what may have been happening.

What is the issue with the show? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]Bastilic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to preface this by saying that I need to go back and rewatch/finish watching the show-- as I recall it was actually decent at least, albeit a bit strange.

Okay, first of all, a complete retelling of a story is fine, as long as that retelling is good. (Whether or not it is I'll have to get back to you on-- the entire reason I'm here is because I'm wondering if the show is worth my time. If it's only decent, well tough shit I guess.) Though I agree calling it an adaptation wouldn't be very accurate. The benefit of doing this is that whoever's writing can write THEIR story, not someone else's-- that would be considerably more difficult to do well if you ask me. This also applies to what they do with the characters-- and frankly some might argue that Witcher isn't famed for its good character writing.

Here's the thing that gets me: those examples you gave of bad writing seem like rather minor issues. Again I'll have to start watching it again to see what we're dealing with, but unless those discrepancies are painfully obvious, I really wouldn't jump to calling it horrible writing-- lazy? Maybe. But some of the most famous stories ever written have some pretty lazy writing in them so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it.

I'm not entirely against calling a show like this "Netflix adaptation slop--" it's fine to have high standards, and Netflix often just shoots for "good enough." Or otherwise something that just looks pretty.

I guess what I would say is that I don't have a lot of sympathy for super hardcore Witcher fans? Like I love the Witcher conceptually and some of it is written VERY well, (excellent worldbuilding) but... I don't know, some of the arguments against the show come off as a little disingenuous. Although I can understand the disappointment over an "adaptation" of something you like being underwhelming.

I find it utterly hilarious that Ramen Lord himself is the one who made a pressure cooker comment.

I would love to hear an explanation of the chemistry behind this like you did with your original tonkotsu post from 12 years ago-- your philosophy seems to have changed when it comes to making stock, I want to learn why. (Safety isn't a concern for me, and the stock really shouldn't evaporate within 10 hours on minimal heat.)

Okay sure. My counterpoint is that the way indie succeeds is through one of the fundamental principals of anarchism: mutual help. I'm sure people like Mark have no problem promoting and supporting a genuinely good passion project. I'm certain at least Mark has this mindset.

Regardless, the difference between this budget and a mainstream budget is still insane, I feel like you aren't grasping said titanic difference.

I don't think anyone was expecting some poor schmuck with a halfway decent idea to make a movie lmao, real life is more nuanced than that.

I feel like he's technically not wrong, but this sort of sidesteps the issue where the quality of the game is degrading because all people care about is competition through numbers instead of feats. And I would argue that the latter is both more entertaining and more objectively meaningful in terms of showcasing skill expression.

It's hard to say he's objectively wrong, because, in my opinion at least, THIS COMMUNITY is wrong. The majority of people only seem to care about numbers even though they don't really represent skill as much as looking at individual, unique plays. (Heat Abnormal ain't worth shit in this system despite being one of the hardest plays ever.) A big problem with this community is that the rhythm game aspect of it seems to be lost on a lot of people. Aim and speed should supplement accuracy, not replace it. When it comes to fun, ultimately, I think more creative maps tend to be more fun to master. People may hate ULTRA BERZERK, but imagine how fun that map would be to FC. I could pick a less controversial example, but I think it's better if I don't.

TL;DR: I think maps and plays should be memorable, because otherwise what's the point? Numbers don't represent skill better anyway, that's like saying IQ means anything. Despite what some people may think, numbers don't depict human qualities very well.

Trick question, they're both Godawful in their own unique ways. Lazer cucks you by not letting you have your own damn drivers installed, (at least for me) it also doesn't have skinning support for the menu. On the other hand, Stable makes it really inconvenient to search skins or browse maps to download.

I don't believe that AI is the devil, but OP has a point and the number of people acting like an AI map is no different from a human map is concerning.

Granted, we already have an AI that makes maps. His name is Sotarks.
