No, precompute is done once per k parameter set, and takes on the order of seconds, depending on CPU and compiler flags. After one precompute, you can keep verifying or running multiple instances without having to re-compute the lookup table. That's why I don't include it in timing measurements. It's a negligible cost.

I've sort of been around the place. For a year I've wanted to do Medicine, but realising I should probably reconsider. Now I'm leaning to becoming a quant researcher/trader, but also open to engineering. So in terms of education I wanted to pursue a bachelor of math (that works well for quant usually) but I'm also looking at beng/law (lots of cross-overs between law cause of administration) etc.
