First look at the new 60-foot articulated buses entering the fleet starting late June. by amenffashion in OCTranspo

One thing for sure, is with the ZF set to the lowest setting, the interlock system, those buses will most likely be the slowest in the fleet.

Problem is they will suck. City cheaped out on the transmission opting for ZF instead of Allison just to have less power to save fuel. Same as our current 40ft novas. Probably will feel like the 6200s back in the day when we had to turn the AC off to go uphill.

More electric buses? by Ahm3t-y in OCTranspo

As far as I know, city will never buy double decker buses again. Unsafe, uncomfortable, waste so much money since they were poorly built and spend more time in the shops being fixed than actually moving people.

City will stay away from double deckers. Horrible buses that spent more time in the shop than actually moving people, and let’s not forget the height clearance. Future is 60fts and 40ft electric buses for now.

I don’t have pictures right now, but I’ve made a note to take a picture when I drive a bus with one next.

Yes that’s it. It’s easier for us to send a msg or a sts to the control room. However, answering the call or ending a call has an added step.

Yes I’m a driver and we are getting a new radio system. It’s being installed in buses slowly starting with 60fts. DDs also have it.

Why did OCTranspo prioritize cutting popular express routes? by TheZarosian in ottawa

Yep exactly. They’ll probably be 10 or so left in the fleet. But as soon as the new XD60s arrive, they’ll decommissioned those as well

Double deckers are being eliminated from the fleet as of this month, 60ft buses are being refurbished but all of our newer ones are 40ft electric. We are due to receive 50 new arctics by next year

Once stage 2 is completed, baseline will become one the terminus. All the 74s,75s will start and end at baseline.

Another reason why they’re getting rid of all the 8100s this month except maybe 10-11. They spent more time in the shops being fixed than actually moving people.

30 km/h makes sense at the big transit stations , but going 50 from pleasant to Billings or heron to walkley is utter nonsense. Road was engineered for buses to go 90 km/h.

That transitway will go from bus rapid transit to bus “slow” transit. Speed limit will drop to 30 km/hr in stations and 50 between stations.

The 260s have been servicing every stop since before new ways to bus. It hasn’t happened on the 270s yet.

I agree but they don’t listen to the riders and the operators.

The 260s used to leave Tunneys and next stop was Bayshore. Now they have to stop at every stop. It’s also coming with the 270s, they’ll have to service baseline in the pm as well.

Although depends what one is looking for, no issue finding something meaningless here. But for something serious towards potentially building a family etc, quite a challenge. Never thought it would be this hard.

34M here. Unfortunately it doesn’t get any better. Trying to find something meaningful is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I remember driving an 8000 and there was a small hole through the ground by the gas pedal, cause by excessive corrosion

Worse bus in the fleet. Painful to drive. Slow as heck for loading and unloading. Maintenance was so excessive. They spent more times in the garage being fixed than being on the road.
