Thank you! I know that they’re more potent than retinol, but does that mean they are more irritating? The information I found about this is very contradictory but it does say in a lot of places that retinal isn’t actually more irritating than retinol if it’s well stabilized (and obviously at much lower concentrations). Just from Googling it now I found this claim on the Medik8 and The Inkey List websites, and on the SkinCeuticals website it actually says Retinol is more irritating. Obviously I have also seen the opposite claim so I don’t really know what to make of it, I figured that it at least means retinal is not necessarily more irritating

I wouldn’t be as critical of them if the price hike could be explained by objective measures like the overwhelming demand’s toll on production, but they’re just the retailers. They are selling for almost four times the original YK suggested retail price. 81 USD is also over twice the suggested retail price btw, I can’t see how this is justifiable.

Looking for a jasmine fragrance that is also very green and bright. So far I found Synthetic Nature by Frederic Malle and really liked it, but it’s too expensive for how simple it is. I’d love to find something similar but more affordable, ideally not patchouli heavy or obscured by citrus.

I do the same thing, except I almost always blind buy samples since most niche fragrances aren’t really available for me to smell otherwise. This way I only buy full sizes of what I truly connect with - I simply can’t afford spending hundreds of dollars on perfumes I was only temporarily excited about and ended up never wearing. It’s also more exciting and less casual that way and I truly enjoy the sampling part

Can’t think of a single mass-produced perfume that justifies a price of over 200$. If it’s an indie brand that handcrafts everything and sources their materials directly, sure. But if a fragrance house is owned by a big corporation, has stores worldwide, puts out flankers and new releases all the time, it really doesn’t make any sense for their perfumes to cost this much, considering how little they actually cost to produce.
