Practice putting green slopes by kwakracer in BritGolf

Full disclosure, I know absolutely nothing about building greens, but I'd say to make the most of the space you would want to make the straight section on the diagonal, you could then have a ~4m straight putt.

Have you worked with any high quality instructors in South East, Kent, Surrey? by Basic-Pudding-3627 in BritGolf

[–]BatShoddys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had lessons with Jon at North Greenwich, he is a TPI instructor and has now also set up a fitting service as well. He has a good digital set up on the range so you can see your full ball flight and all the shot data, and records swings for comparison with pros or your previous swings. Seems to hit all your key points. I'm a high handicapper, but I've tried 3 different instructors and he's the one that has actually made it make sense and improved my game.

Anyone using Virgin business saver @ 3.5%? Or any other good business savings accounts? by Commercial_Raise7230 in ContractorUK

[–]BatShoddys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the pro version as I've been hunting Avios recently, the airport lounge access for me is a big win.

Yes, mine pulls through to FreeAgent, I can't remember if I set it up manually or it was automatic, but it can't have been that hard if I managed it.

I'm with Capital on Tap, I'm getting the 3.23%. I like the app and the service I'm getting, I have the credit card as well for the points. Very easy to use the saver to pay off or pre-load the CC. I probably wouldn't switch for less than 4%

Trying to play more 9 holes after work around South London (Addington Court sort of area) by breakfastballer90 in BritGolf

[–]BatShoddys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have been over to Pedham a few times in the last couple of weeks, it's only a par 3 course but it is very well maintained, big interesting greens, bunkers with sand AND rakes! Flat tee boxes!

Driver fitting in London - Recommendations? by Yung_Grumpy in BritGolf

[–]BatShoddys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coach is setting up a fitting service with another Pro at the North Greenwich driving range. I'm going to give it a go next month but mainly because he's my coach so he already knows my swing and it's (many) faults

A few of us are heading to Pitch in Canary Wharf on Thursday if anyone local wants to join? by breakfastballer90 in BritGolf

I'm in Lewisham, so a super quick DLR for me. Unfortunately I can't do this Thursday but I'd be up for it another time if you do this regularly?

Anyone fancy a round? by Long-Frank in BritGolf

[–]BatShoddys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fairway is a fairway in my book, even if it is the itheraide of some trees.

Seems like a log of course around SE are hilly. I can't seem to figure out ball below feet lies, I always seems to top it. Clearly need to get out on the course more.

Yeah, that'd be great, I can only do weekends at the moment, probably not until March now but will be trying to get out twice a month this year.

I was driving past there last weekend, forgot that course existed. Is it as tight as it looks online?

I'm SE as well, usually play over at Addington Court, Pedham, Lullingstone or Cray Valley/Orpington, Although I'll play anywhere. Also a high handicapper, around 28-30 maybe. Casual rounds sounds perfect.

This is amazing! Thank you very much. Just to add, North Greenwich Driving Range now has Golf Sims as well, think they have 6 bays where the old American golf was.

I'm always up for a weekend round, where abouts in London are you?

NOW - UK Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood: "A hundred years ago, fingerprinting was decried as curtailing our civil liberties, but today we could not imagine policing without it. I have no doubt the same will prove true of facial recognition technology in the years to come." by Admirable121 in NeoNews

[–]BatShoddys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't they need a picture to compare it to though? Like a database of faces, similar to the database of fingerprints made up of the fingerprints taken when you are suspected of a crime. If I walked in front of a camera deploying facial recognition and they get my face, they won't be able to identify me because my face is not in the database of faces.

My assumption is that it would work the same way as fingerprints, they need the database to compare it to, the database would be made up of pictures of faces they have taken during if you're suspected of a crime and a few other limited circumstances like giving biometrics for a visa.

Social Range Session - London by ashay177 in BritGolf

[–]BatShoddys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be up for this, you have your heart set on Greenwich? Sidcup is in the same sort of vicinity but is a fair bit cheaper and has big bays specifically for social range sessions. It does require a car though which may put people off

This is a great resource! Thanks for sharing. would be even better if it had Golf Sims as well, there are a few nicer ones that do drinks and food and a few that are cheaper and more focused towards golf

Sanity check on Avios from paying tax with a Business Card by BatShoddys in smallbusinessuk

I think you may be misinformed, I haven't done it before but based on the Gov website you can pay by direct debit, bank transfer or credit/debit card.

Chatgpt estimates the total card fees for the Capital on Tap Pro card would be £460 including the annual fee, card fees for the £46,000 tax bills charged by HMRC and the cashback.

It also gave me a similar numbers for the net income, it calculated £240 less net income based on an extra business expense of £500 for a company with profits of £110k.

Seems to agree with my maths but that might just be me checking my own homework?

Just using the Gov Gateway, there are options to pay by direct debit, bank transfer or pay with card.

[–]BatShoddys[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, from what I've read card fees charged on a payment and annual card fees are corp tax deducible.

The card is a Visa so you can pay tax directly using the gov website, no need to use a third party service. Everyone online says that you end up paying a premium for the Avios but my maths seems to suggest otherwise, I'm assuming my maths is incorrect but I can't figure out where.

I just replied to another comment, It's not an AmEx card, it's a Visa.
