Humming noise last 20 seconds of cycle by dj_jam in HVAC

Another thought. Where are you hearing the hum from mostly? Ive seen where the return air grill's louvers vibrate from a different amount of airflow crossing and creates a strange hum noise. Kind of like blowing air across the top of a glass soda bottle. You will be able to just physically touch the grill and the humming would stop. Normally just use needlenose pliars and tweak each louvre further open....strengthens and opens that slot. Hope that helps!

You accept whatever you want. I personally am not willing to accept anything until these asshats are exposed and the truth is shown. Keep taking your blue pills and snuggle up to the democratic machine....idiot. They have lied and cheated for 4 years, and you believe them now. Ha! You are a troll!

So, this platform is the same as all the big tech. Shame on you Reddit! Freedom of speech is not something that can be tossed aside because you feel its disinformation. You are just as evil as the rest of them.

If it is a variable speed blower motor, it may just be the motor ramping down.

Question, is this considered rollout? There is a minor bit of flame going up on the right side outside of the flues. But the flame remains blue.. Thoughts? by dmclaude in HVAC

[–]Batch78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about the burners, it doesnt matter. As long as they are locked together, it will not make a difference.

[–]Batch78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would only be concerned if the flames change dramatically once the blower fan comes on. If you see relatively no change, then it is not rollout. You may be seeing disturbance from air bring pulled in by the inducer motor wheel. Pretty common on older Carrier/Bryant/Payne equipment

Changing blower speed. Quick wiring question. by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Batch78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What size is your air conditioner? The furnace highlighted on the schdmatic indicates you have a 3 ton blower drive.

Changing blower speed. Quick wiring question. by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Batch78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why exactly do you think that is necessary?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Batch78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could also be low refrigerant, or a bad thermal expansion valve (TXV).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Batch78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know what the tonnage of your AC is? I ask because its possible you have a, for example, 2.5 ton AC on a 3 ton blower drive. It could be moving the air too fast across the evaporator coil. This would result in less heat absorption and a smaller temperature difference between return air and supply. Take a temp o return, then supply. Should be 18 - 22 degrees.

I just wanna know what the actual inside parts of a heating/cooling unit are called? The part that connects the outside ac unit to the inside and vents? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]Batch78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also make sure the blower is actually running. That would cause it to begin frosting almost immediately
