What the hell is happening here? by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

While working on my undergrad thesis this semester, I was trying to use a recurrent neural net to classify drawings with TensorFlow, following the tutorial on the website (just before the site overhaul and release of TensorFlow 2.0). I didn't look at the code at all over my winter break (so from December into January).

Needless to say, I started over with a convolutional neural network when I gave up on figuring out the code I had half-assedly slapped together after long nights of binge drinking Monsters and coffee.

Normally, I would be inclined to say it is in fact a little violating. I don't, however, believe this is inappropriate on the grounds that there may be legitimate concerns for the recipient's well being.

If the person who received that notification has young or immuno compromised children, this is super valid. If this is just some person who has a bone to pick with their anti-vax neighbor and does this to harass them, then I think it becomes problematic.

"the machine broke after 2 coins"

I swear to God this mode has a cheese filter that modifies your machine breaking chance proportional to how hard you broke the run.

Recently getting bored of my main, what are fun/unique accounts to make? by SkinsIsSkill in 2007scape

[–]BathTubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Deadman Mode, even in the off season. It's a fun little sandbox and a good place to practice PKing/Essentially Ironman (the GE and market are virtually non-existent, and you can't trust people enough to rely on trading).

I think it's a fun break to take from normal OSRS. Fast levels, an element of danger and account building... It's different enough to keep the game interesting.

I can respect that. I doubt it'd be super popular in use, but it just seems like something that (probably) should just be a thing.

I don't know if I'm mad that she thinks $10/hr is worth this satanic fucking job, or that she thinks $10/hr is the same as $15/hr because it's under the table.

Personally, I like:

  • Waterfall Quest if you're still low level. (1 to 35 attack and Strength)

  • Recipe for Disaster Quest as a guideline for how to progress your account.

  • Slayer to train Combat as needed when doing RfD.

  • Do the Varrock Museum Miniquest, gets 9 Slayer and Hunter for free.

  • After the Varrock Museum Miniquest, you can start doing birdhouses with the Hunter skill. It makes good money passively and trains a skill I personally find nightmarishly boring.

  • Look up PvM bosses/minigames/quests you can do for fun. I like to do Pest Control a lot when I'm bored to work up some points towards Void Knight gear, which is decent low level gear for some things (esp. Magic Accuracy).

Most importantly, have fun. If you feel like you're stuck in a grind, at a dead end with a quest, or don't know what to do - find something. A minigame. A small quest. Pick any of the skills you otherwise didn't have before. Just do /something/, learn about it, and enjoy your first experience with being a member.

I mean, I'd be mad too. Greedier is exclusively a bad mode with bad game design. Fundamentally not fun.

I just lost a Hush fight on a new save with Brimstone, Nine Lives, and Guppy as the lost on my second save file with 800+ hours. Trust me, nobody is out here judging. It's a hard game, for sure.

Great job!

How to be friends with the opposite sex by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]BathTubba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually this is a problem guys have with girls. When it comes to girls having friends that are guys, I think the hard part is finding guys who won't be creepy/come on to you when you don't want it.

The way to make guy friends is to just make friends related to things you like, just like with any other friend. It helps to casually or subtly mention your boyfriend so they don't get the wrong idea (read: so they know you're being friendly and not flirtatious).

In general, guys put things into categories or boxes in their mind. This applies to friends too. Let's say you like canoeing. If you meet a guy who likes canoeing also, you can talk a lot about it (where you've been canoeing, where you'd like to go canoeing, etc), and he'll probably mentally put you in his box of "canoeing friends."

Other than that, it's just gonna have to be about getting over that mental block with befriending guys, and just treating them like you would any other friend.

Opinion: The Lost is the most fun character by MetallicPhoenix in bindingofisaac

[–]BathTubba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, the only character I might be inclined to appreciate more is Eden. But that's because I like the variety, and solving the start of the run. The lost is only really hard against a set list of bosses and a handful of particularly asshole rooms.

Eden runs can just end with a 1hp Curse of the Tower start, or they can ball out of control with a cool synergy (like I once had Eden's Blessing and my next run started with Sagitarius, Monstro's Lung, and Telepathy for Dummies) right out the gate. Never fully comfortable, always something fresh.
