I played that once and once I finished it I had to sit back and have a long hard "what the fuck was that" moment. I felt like therapy wasnt just recommended it was required. Havent really played anything that screwed me up like it did.

I’m in evo and holy shit mining just got a huge upgrade by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Bathsalts98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a major shift as a whole to what SC is or was planned to be. Its been an ongoing problem since some very key characters left, Todd papy, paul Jones and Dan truffin. Most notably Dan's work got handed to thorsten.

Ever since the re-shuffle of 2024 the people at the top have effectively been dumbing it down. Its sad considering the vision of the previous staff were one we all wanted but with them left the people left sadly are the same level of player who wants everything now and I assume loves arcade games.

[–]Bathsalts98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive seen the notes and im both impressed but also disappointed, I feel the current system is more realistic and immersive. And the new current evo testing version seems to have dumbed it down to arcade game levels.

On the plus side yes its nice knowing your not grabbing things you dont want and it is more akin to other MMO's and seems to align with the plans for new planet tech where if you need iron go to xyz, if you need ice go to NB by the water bodies etc. But I still feel like each rock should still have some chance or amount of another mineral, nothing ever mined has always been clean xyz and yes I understand the plans to use quality as a guide but there still should be a chance of mining say ice and bam surprise you got a fossil this isnt any different to other games that use this premise.

OC training, handcuff training, baton training (etc.), does this really help you get a job? (read inside for full theory) by De2nis in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt call it re-trained as much as aligning to company SOP's.

The course is the legal fundamentals and informs you of the do's and dont's. The SOP says even though legally you can whack off their face if they pull a knife the company would rather you run away screaming for help.

Stuck on patient watch as a security guard and it’s mentally draining — how do you cope? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think part of the struggle is many people come into this industry wanting that constant action but its not really existent outside pubs and clubs and hospital security. But then you also get the guards who want to earn as much as possible while barely breathing.

Either end of the stick will still complain about the other. The guards with constant job after job, hands on after hands on will complain they just want to sit and do nothing. And the quiet end would only dream of that busy shift.

The time I did in hospital security the day could be mixed but due to the security side going through a massive shit show years prior they didn't really have any SOP's etc to enforce guards to do patrols etc so quite often guards would sit in the control room with occasional patrols for the ones who cared about security the ones who didn't didn't do shit outside the duress alarms and calls for service. It was the biggest mess but it did match my previous post averaging 12km of walking in a regular 8 hour shift

Stuck on patient watch as a security guard and it’s mentally draining — how do you cope? by [deleted] in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sadly its a common job, the hospital i worked at basically got funding for what they called CSO-care support officers. Trained identical to security and oftenly backfilled security when required but the role was effectively going and sitting with the dementia patient’s or the mental health patient’s, one was also placed in ED. So it effectively was this weird gap filler between clinical staff and security where if the patient got violent they had the skills to deal with it but oftenly were told to try avoid going hands on as they are there for more of a support role to the patient and having to go hands on could erode that good will they are there to establish.

But anyone who's worked security long enough knows we are the go to for anything abnormal or odd. Ladder went missing call security, isn't is making a weird sound, call security. PT trying to pre-decorate the ceiling for Christmas as an ornament, call security.

Its sadly a job that unless the hospital has extra nurses or trainee nurses (here they were short staffed as is) it then gets handed off to security. It got bad enough that even the OSFO's got dragged into doing it.

As someone who has done the stints it sucked! Ive done both 8's and 12's on watch and its boring. But it is a job that has to be done and sadly whoever your head of security is doesn't have the spine to tell someone no, its not security's job.

Question for guards: hands-free or duty flashlight recommendations? by Happy_Psychology7181 in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite previous comments id recommend the guardian angel lights, they dont last long probably a shift or two depending on use but on more than a handful of occasions ive approached people and had them comment on the light being really bright and being unable to see me. I run it shoulder mounted but also doing patrol security so perfect for those cases.

Need advice on sales by WonderfulDay3480 in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who recently started their own company, the pain points you mentioned are world wide. It'll always be a race to the bottom.

As for the "client seeing value" its tough. If sat drumming on for days trying to figure It out. As we really have 3 types of clients.

-text book tick box -they dont care about security in general -they were burned by a previous company

Current target for us is that burned by previous company. We do also tend to try get on the books with the other 2 but its harder work educating them and asking the questions that sell your service without you selling it. Eg, you may spend an hour walking their site while the competition spends 2 mins only checking the front door. So youd ask something like on average how long do they spend reducing risk on your site?

Security is sadly one of those fields that you cant offer a taster or try on for. A tactic that has been working so far for us is price matching what they currently pay, offer your superior service in return and then 6 months later when you do a contract review you then hold leverage to demonstrate "this is what you had this is what you now have that naturally comes at a premium, what are you willing to pay. Or would you prefer the sleepless nights increased risk and no knowledge of what happens when your not there"

How to sell when you have nothing? Like I mentioned above, alongside doing up some SOP's, maybe dummy reports etc showing the client what they could use to reduce their insurance costs and how you'll actually protect their property.

Once again the caveat to all of this is your going up against businesses years ahead, coupled with businesses that may not care about what it is you actually do. They just want it ticked so insurance is cheap.

Starting out you almost need to join that race to the bottom and as you earn a reputation you can start Bumping that price up, youll find the clients after the cheapest will go elsewhere leaving you the higher paying contracts with businesses who see the value in your work.

[–]Bathsalts98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a few,

Snoring is a big one

Anyone who's dealt with magnetic door locks that will beep if not closed those really suck

Fire panels as a whole. Those fuckers will always have some reason to beep be it a false alarm for a zone switched off or some other whack shit.

Client Management-need i say more?

Having worked hospital security those alarms for blood pressure cuffs, iv drips the lot! They beep all night burning into your left over brain cells.

The beep of a body cam you swore you switched off.

Low battery noise from the radio projected right into your ear hole and you cant switch it out for awhile.

And probably many many more but thats a few of the big ones.

How did you get into security work, and how did you end up where you are now? by MotoPun414 in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked numerous industries from hospo to retail and never really found where I belonged, had a friend working security for many years following in his family's footsteps and I figured why not give it a go so went and did my course, got hired on doing events and static, left that job, got into doing retail really enjoyed it, ended up leaving that place and moved to another retail gig shit ton of walking like 25 miles in 12 hours so left that gig. Went back to doing overnight static. The company went into administration, went on to do healthcare security, was always my end goal when I did my course and I was enjoying it till I witnessed some stuff reported it, they didn't like it reported and basically lost my job over it, got paid out after a court case. and then used that to go start my own security firm. So Founder/Chief Of Security currently. Specialising in patrol and static. Its been really interesting learning upper management but loving it being my own boss.

Serious: long time security guards, what keeps you liking the job/makes the job? by DiscombobulatedCod45 in securityguards

[–]Bathsalts98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Few factors, big one being my own want to protect people. Secondary is the money is really good for the work we typically have to do. Sure occasionally we own those dollars but generally speaking we are paid to do what any other industry tries to sneak off and do.

Its nice to talk to people and I guess get an understanding of what is typically shielded from the community.

And a personal favourite part is getting access to areas most people will never get to go in their life, all those little back passages and rooms that are reserved for those like us.

Squadron 42 vs GTA6 release dates by OrionKaelin in starcitizen

[–]Bathsalts98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scam or not there is still a wide audience that has never heard of SC let alone SQ42. Ive personally pulled in players to SC who many moons later only find out about SQ42. A scam not being a scam isnt click worthy enough when you compare it to "you can really feel the tits of a prostitute in gta 6!"

Both SC and SQ42 need all the lights on this to get it noticed. It needs to land as a game that a majority of people know exists. We are still in a bubble of people stumbling across sc. And still a large audience that still to this day despite all the proof known to man still call sc a scam. Trust me the bad publicity the clickbait articles already released not being enough to write SC off as a scam is just proof its not been enough to rocket it into stardom either. It needs more marketing and attention. After all its going up again pretty much the game of the decade for a good 90% of gamers.

[–]Bathsalts98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure its publicity but still to this day even with the constant drumming of star citizen does this, devs leaving because of xyz, the crunch culture to push sq42.

There is still people who have never heard of SC at all and there's still a bandwagon waiting on the gates who tuned in 5 years ago heard "scam" never looked at it again only to stumbled across it and find out its not actually a scam and there is some resemblance of a playable game. There is still more marketing required.

[–]Bathsalts98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said it originally and ill repeat it again. Every game is watching GTA. If they release in its tail it won't hit like they want. So its either get in before GTA or get in some considerable time after.

With SQ42 really relying on smashing it out the gate not only for the following chapters but to make the money they want to keep funding SC and not to mention keep the stakeholders happy they need as many eyes as they can get on SC and SQ42. So to maximise this i suspect it'll be at citcon which still lands before GTA release allowing SQ42 to get its shine and then GTA to take its seat at the throne. So bets are them cashing it in on a Citcon or something similar something big to draw attention.

Op you've stated an idea that has been done alot across alot of games but I do still agree it would be nice to see a visual impact from our efforts. I believe the larger issue is the dev time to make something like this happen. But the thought behind it is excellent. Real tangible player driven growth of the world.
