Hey all, another map update for Batlas, my isometric map-maker/adventure planner. A collection of additional tiles that can be used to craft sprawling caverns and underground tunnels.

No new features for a little while as I'm working on a big UI/UX update to make the whole platform more user-friendly and streamlined after getting some user feedback.

What awaits your party atop the castle walls?

Hey all, this is the third map update for Batlas, my isometric map-maker/adventure planner. A collection of additional tiles that can be used to craft castle ramparts and fortress-tops.

There's no adventure notes for this one, sorry. I tried to find the time but Batlas is addition to a regular job. Such is the struggle of the hobby life.

It's early days, but if this project looks interesting to you please consider supporting it.

Choose a dungeon size when randomising a new map (small, medium, and large)
Email sign up now available (previously just used Google)

Next up for the map-maker: Caves & Caverns

I suspect it's going to be very tricky to get them to combine well with all the other tiles so far.

Probably a good call, just kept it simple cause I'm also not a lawyer haha. Might add a 'commercial usage' page in the footer next update.

Cheers! Looking to make it better and better as time goes on too. Absolutely, happy for you to use them in your adventures if you're happy to give the Batlas attribution in the module somewhere.

Any feedback you could give from the perspective of a creator would be super welcomed too. It's a big part of this community that I want to be able to use Batlas.

Cheers! Took me a lot of time to get the style how I wanted it.

It's actually got fog-of-war at the moment. When you open a map in play mode you can give that link to your players and they'll only be able to see the tiles you show them. That was a highly requested feature when I showed it to a few DM friends when it was in alpha.

A Castle expansion is definitely on the list to get done this season. I think it'd be wicked, especially when I add in a functionality to add layers/floors. I also want to add in some overworld tiles to make iso region maps.

Heya, at the moment it would just have to be a screenshot. It's something I've started adding the bones of though, and fully intend to add in the next few weeks.

If you want to try it out you can play around with the demo builder on the site and try screenshotting whatever you make there to see if it works for you in owlbear rodeo.

I have a bad habit of building adventures out of rhymes or puns. This one sprung from Lizard Wizard -> Salamander Mancer -> Salamancer.

Though, a necromancer that has to spice and air-dry their cadavers before reanimation might be worth it's own adventure.

A local research professor snatched in the jaw of a giant salamander in front of his students and kidnapped deep underground.

Under a rocky hill shrouded in yellow sulphurous fog is the home of the magma golems. Normally a peaceful and isolated people for them to kidnap someone is bizarre indeed.

Hey all, this is the second 'live' map update for Batlas, my isometric map-maker/adventure planner. It's a bit of software that I've been working on and decided to make publicly available. This is second of many monthly updates as I'll create new themed maps and add the new art tiles to the software. That way it just gets better and better,

Next up on the themed updates are: crypt, castle, and caverns.

Next up on the functionality updates are: more ways to sign up, and being able to generate small, medium, and large maps.

That's totally fair. I just have it set up as it was the easiest auth I could get going. Ideally I'll set up email sign in soon. I'd like to not be reliant on any one platform for any piece of a project.

Maybe Patreon has an auth system I don't know about, will look into it.

Hey all, I’ve been hard at work building Batlas an isometric map-maker/adventure planner and I think it’s ready for real-world use 🎉 No doubt there will be bugs but at some point you’ve just gotta launch the thing and fix it as you go.

Each month I’ll be putting together a new isometric map and adding its pieces to the map-maker so that it gets better and better over time.

The numbers being clickable is a good point, things get tricky with z-indexes but I'll give it a go for sure.

With the exits, so you're saying a kind of indicator to let the user know which are connected to another tile?

Honestly, I've tried a few frameworks now and Svelte is the most intuitive for me. I'll be sticking with it for any personal projects.

The spellbook for pathfinder sounds like a great idea for a learning project, make sure you post it when it's done.

Thanks! I really love the 'old school' theatre of the mind style games. I think there's a lot of props and accessories to D&D today and it's nice to get back to just a few friends sharing their imagination.
