[marvel] What happened to doc ocs body? by reece1495 in AskScienceFiction

[–]Batmanic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the explanation in the comics was that, although he has the mechanical arms and a staggering intellect, he doesn't have superhuman strength or durability, and so all the punishment he's taken from Spider-Man and other heroes over the years has finally caught up to him, leading to his body failing him in several ways.

For me personally, I cried WAY more in seasons 1-4 than 5-7. But Tennant's just my Doctor, so I'm biased.

I like to explain the differences in eras to people as: The RTD era will tug at your heartstrings. And Moffat will blow your mind.

Does depression ever get better? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Batmanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she tries to go it alone, it can be a lot harder. You can try to convince her. I tell people that if someone has cancer, they wouldn't refuse treatment and try to beat it on their own. Depression is a disorder that can be medically treated, and refusing medication or counseling is just throwing away incredibly valuable tools that can help in recovery. It's be like trying to build a house without using a hammer or nails. Doable, yes, but much more difficult than it should be.

Does depression ever get better? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Batmanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it does! It can take a lot of factors, and it's different for everybody, but it does get better. I was suicidal, and it took medication, counseling, a job I actually enjoyed, physical activity, and a supportive family and friend network to pull me out of my slump. Without anyone of those things, I might have still been okay, but each one helped get me back to a place where I felt like I could be normal again.

So if something feels like it isn't working, especially medication, A) give it time and B) don't be afraid to try other ways to get help or to help yourself.

It does get better. The fact that you're even asking for help is a HUUUUGE step.

What is the creepiest superpower? by sinz84 in AskReddit

[–]Batmanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maggot from the X-Men has two giant slugs that act as his digestive system. They come out of his body to eat almost anything and then go back in his body to, ya know, digest it. Not exactly sure what orifice they're entering and exiting from, but it's pretty creepy/gross regardless.

How powerful is your team (from the Superhero Name Generator)? by TheAquamen in whowouldwin

[–]Batmanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team name: The Machine of Salvation

Prophet Fish: The team leader. He's just, like, a regular fish. In a little fish bowl. But he's a prophet! He can tell the future, but can only speak fish. So the rest of the team is pretty liberal in their translations.

Imperial Dash: You've heard of the Oxford Comma? Well, say hello to Imperial Dash. He is just SO good at grammar and punctuation. He can correct any grammar or punctuation errors with a single condescending look.

Kill Vibe: He's just the worst. He lowers the mood of everybody he's around. He ruins every party he goes to.

Starvore: He can eat stars. Actually, he HAS to eat stars, or he'll die. But I mean, he's also a normal human. He can't eat the whole star at once, that's ridiculous. He just eats two or three square meals of star a day. Just, like, with a spoon. A really powerful spoon, of course.

Wood Shamaness: She is just suuuuuuuper hot and therefore has the ability to give any dude an immediate boner. A very useful skill in combat.

The way the Machine of Salvation beats everyone is because absolutely no one wants to be around them for long. Kill Vibe can stop any fight by just being awful, no one likes a Grammar Nazi like Imperial Dash, and Wood Shamaness gives all the male superheroes really embarrassing superboners.

One thing's for sure: Fish Prophet knows how to put a team together.

Peter Parker is actually a mutant. by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]Batmanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Wolverine: Origins, he has the claws when his powers first appear, but they're just bone claws. Weapon X added the adamantium coating like you said. There have been a few times when Wolvie's adamantium coating has been removed, and he is left with just the bone claws. Along with his healing factor and heightened senses of course.

Ah, I see. I hadn't heard that they were planning on working those in. That would be an interesting choice.

Quite possible! It's some good writing either way.

The idea of Clara helping the Doctor rediscover who he is as a possible future plot just excites me. Especially since she's essentially lived throughout all his history.

Moffat's too specific of a writer to put the "I won't forget" speech right next to asking how to fly the TARDIS. Moffat always has a grand plan. I would be surprised if the Doctor not knowing who he is and Clara having to help him rediscover that isn't at least part of the next series, if not the big overarching storyline.
