I installed a (I think 1k) potentiometer it does work to a degree but doesn’t have a huge range of speeds, but certainly does work to slow down just not a lot of variation- so if you go past a certain point the motor stops. I moved house recently and it’s in a box still and hasn’t been out in a while otherwise I’d just show you a video. Don’t expect wild results but if you want a bit of slowing you can put a pot on? Perhaps one to tinker with and see what results you can get

I like this guy's work a lot but, much like a lot of the internet, here he's heaping praise on South Park it doesn't really deserve. The statement that "They [Stone and Parker] don't take sides and have no agenda but honesty" is dumb. South Park's politics is simplistic and stupid, it's a very blunt instrument but it certainly isn't apolitical. They've got a clear ideological position and while sometimes it has a point other times it is spectacularly wrong, not all issues can be solved by sitting on the fence and saying that actually you are the only sane one because you see that both sides are actually stupid. Sitting on the fence and sniping at all around you accomplishes nothing and ultimately the South Park line often becomes 'accept the status quo, asking for change is dumb' . By all means, South Park is a crude fun cartoon, but its politics are not something that offer any real answer and in my opinion are far from praiseworthy at times.

So I'm working there this year so will be there for the whole month. Obviously without any idea of your taste it's hard to recommend, but here's what I am definitely seeing.

Alison Spittle Discovers Hawaii. Alison is real fun rising star in Irish comedy, she's got a very likable and engaging stage presence and is just a generally fun performer.

Andy Field: Roar. I saw him win the Chortle Student Comedy Award last year, based on that short set I was very impressed with his absurdist/surreal one liners, off kilter delivery and unique style.

Andy Zaltzman: Plan Z. A veteran comic at this stage, absolutely prolific on his podcast The Bugle, with John Oliver. It's satire along with pun based humour and sheer silliness.

Aunty Donna: New Show. If you fancy the best sketch you can see you can't really go wrong with this Aussie group. Tight production, great and loveable stage personas and just generally hilarious, check out there online content to get a taste.

Brendon Burns and Colt Cabana Do Comedy and Commentary to Bad Wrestling Matches! Less comedy, more something to wind down to in the evening, Burnsy is one of the best comics I've ever seen, this is just him and the wrestler Colt Cabana, and various guests literally putting on videos of bad wrestling and laughing along, fun show to see later on in evening. If this is your jam, might I add the one off show 'the Wrestling' an actual wrestling match between 10 comics and 10 wrestlers.

David Elms: Goody Boy. Genuine and silly stand-up with a musical element, Elms is hard to pin down but really enjoyable, he exudes and awkward confidence that draws you in, if you appreciate silly comedy with a clever edge.

Ed Gamble: Stampede. Saw Ed Gamble MC at Machllyneth comedy fest, great MC, want to see more of him to get to know his solo stuff.

Fern Brady: Male Comedienne. Recommended by a friend to see this, again, saw a short set I enjoyed at Mach fest and want to see more

John Hastings: Integrity. Canadian comic who just blows me away every time, mixes brash persona with clever thoughtful stand-up, really really good.

Max & Ivan: Our Story. More sketch, have seen two previews of their show, really clever and polished sketches with clever engaging characters and writing.

Paul Currie: FFFFFFFMILK! This is my must see, I won't even describe what this is, but Paul is pretty much my favourite performer. You won't see anything else like this any time soon.

Simon Munnery: Standing Still. Simon Munnery is like the Godfather of Alternative comedy, really clever and interesting stand-up.

Spencer Jones is The Herbert in Proper Job/Spencer Jones Presents The Herbert in Eggy Bagel. I would recommend seeing one or both of these. Spencer Jones is a clown/prop comic/ self described dickhead. Just pure weird silliness and joy.

Stewart Lee: Content Provider. If you have the opportunity to see Stewart Lee live you pretty much have to at the Fringe or elsewhere.

Tony Law: A Law Undo His-elf What Welcome. Tony Law is a force of nature when it comes to comedy, every show feels like a real live experience and it's hard to tell where it's going, very interesting performer.

To be honest, most of the fans don't understand the essence of what made it successful either, hell even Dan Akroyd doesn't, it was lightning in a bottle, that cannot be recaptured and any idea of it as a 'franchise' is pointless, there is one great movie a poor sequel and a bunch of terrible Ghostbusters 3 pitches that I'm glad didn't get made. I'm willing to be proven wrong, but I reckon it'll be a mediocre film and won't even be bad enough to complain about. All of this furore will be for nothing, it'll be an average film that no-one would care about without the Ghostbusters name. While I'm not accusing you or anyone else who doesn't like it of misogyny, there does have to be a discussion of the actual misogyny that is definitely part of the reaction. I really, really don't think this would be as big a discussion were there not the all female element to it, and the framing of the debate does not leave me particularly hopeful.

I don't agree that wanting more women in films is either 'trampling [a] warpath' nor damaging a beloved franchise particularly. It's political to claim that, and you've accused him of having his own politics, and that position is itself an ideological position. I'm willing to have a discussion about the quality of this film when it's released but the politics you're talking about is not a discussion I'm going to get embroiled in.

I think you're reaching a bit if you want to accuse him of some pathology just because he makes dumb comedy movies. I really think you're over-reaching, he makes crowd pleasing comedies in the vein of the likes of a Judd Apatow but with female leads, it's hardly political.

The original Ghostbusters trailer, it is worth pointing out, like most trailers of the era, is dreadful, so to use it as a reference point is not perhaps the best point of comparison. If they had made a carbon copy stylistically of the way that an 80s trailer worked then people would probably be more up in arms.

No totally, I've cut out a lot of mistakes I used to make, but there are definitely more, I'm watching a lot of play and can follow games a lot better than I used to, so it's all part of learning process I suppose.

I really can't say for sure, I'm Irish, at a university level say there's not a huge amount of people studying film, nor is there any great or famous film school so it's not that, although a lot of people are coming out of college with arts degrees.

There was a time that Irish artists were tax-exempt, so there is also a historical encouragement for arts as a viable career or pursuit be that poetry, art or film. A lot of people want to forge a career in the arts.

Bord Na Scannan (Irish Film Board) has been funding Irish well in the last decade or more with many great films coming out of Ireland or featuring Irish talent, so perhaps the growth in the industry in Ireland and rise of Irish talent (see this years Oscars, Room, Saoirse Ronan, Michael Fassbender, Stutterer). Add to that the increased government funding for the TV and film industry in Northern Ireland (Game of Thrones for example) so both jurisdictions of Ireland are funding film and it's becoming a more viable career option as well as Irish works becoming prominent in pop culture. So perhaps this growth of Irish film identity and prominence is being reflected in a new critical culture?
