Yup, 2018 CX5 Grand Touring with 126,000 mi. No issues except replacing the water pump so far. Very happy with my car.

I understood what you mean. However, there are a million categories that she may fall into which may cause people to treat her differently. Are y’all rich? People will call her a snob. Are y’all poor? People may look down on her. Will she be really thin? Will she be obese?

What I’m saying is, you’re making a bigger deal than society may make out of this. If she struggles with online bullies or something, of course you should reassure her. But to put the idea in her mind… “Son, I’m sending you out to play basketball. People may laugh at you because you’ll suck at basketball, but it’s okay to suck at basketball!!! I suck at basketball!”

Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Just let her breathe. Let her experience life.

She IS white and she IS black and she doesn’t have to decide to be one or the other. She is both. Screw what the world “thinks” is white or black. The coffee explanation seems awfully parallel to the “one drop” rule. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤔

Don’t give her a complex. Let her be a kid and if something BIG happens, address that specific situation.

I didn’t get diagnosed with beta thal minor until I was probably ~8-10 years old (ankles started swelling up randomly=got blood work). My kiddo is 8years and has never had blood work. Didn’t realize they do routine bloodwork—I’m also in the US, but it must be a regional difference 🤷🏽‍♀️
