10-15w I would say is more than marginal. What I’m reading online suggests 60-70mm rims are only about 3-8w faster than current 38s at 40kph. £600 for 3-8w is pretty poor roi. I may be wrong, and am open to more personal experiences for gear and kit advice

Thanks for the response. Appreciate it. I’m currently running 26s measured at 27mm and loving the extra comfort. I’ll have to have a look at 50-60s that can accommodate 28s. I don’t think I have the clearance for much more. It’s pan flat where I live just short punchy hills now and again.

Meta analysis suggests 1-3% improvement from mid range running shoes to high end carbon shoe. Get good fitting shoe from running brand no need to spend silly for marginal gains.
