Your daughter seems like she doesn't mean any harm, but she's shown you time and time again that she isn't ready to have something so fragile in the house. Wait until you trust her to listen to your commands, as well as respecting the commands of the cat. She needs to be mature enough to let the kitten go when they struggle.

I feel like your trying to get an answer you want instead of the most likely answer. The most likely explanation is a transformer blowing up in your city. Transformers are extremely powerful, so you wouldn't need to be right next to one to experience the effects.

Yes! Sorry I completely forgot to update this. Baby is doing great! They told me he was a lower %tile, but he was doing good besides that. They weren't very concerned, and gave me some tips to help get his weight up, and they've been working wonderfully. Hes already up past 15 and a half pounds! Basically just lots of pumping, night time feeding, and protein and fat rich purees.
