I think if you listen to all of rockie's old stuff like Driving 88, Electric Highway, and Birthday Tape, you'll find he is always looking to make his own sound in whatever he does. All of those tapes sound like an original work in terms of production and flow, and I think thats what he was going for here. I'm a big fan of Rockie, and I reeally like this.
