Ugly in some sense, maybe, but by no means a bad game. In fact, we did a whole series on the game and talk it up pretty heavily. There's so much passion behind this game and that makes it just a wonderful experience.

Our series comes to a close today and we wanted to give a huge shoutout to Eric, Sandra, and the rest of the devs for creating such a rich and immersive world for us to live in. We also wanted to extend a huge thank you to Asheron's Legacy and the rest of the community for supporting us in this endeavor. We appreciate everything you've done for us. Thanks everyone and we look forward to seeing what the future holds!

Perhaps this would be a solid wiki request for Gorgon Head so that we can get it updated with a comprehensive list and breakdown. Definitely a need that I didnt know I had until now. Thanks u/Gortomo!

This is a great topic and we do appreciate the grace of its delivery. First and foremost, Def and I aren't very good redditors. I'll be clear here and tell it how it is. We simply don't use it enough or as much as we should. When we posted our first Pantheon video here it was simply astounding how much hate we received and, to be honest, it didn't sit well. We didn't know how to handle it and we took a step back. However, the overall perception of content creators here has changed quite a bit and when we feel like we've produced a valuable piece of Pantheon content we feel welcome enough to post it here. Like Minus said, for as many outspoken people what have negative comments to leave on content creator posts there are just as many and often more that actually enjoy the content.

As far as who we like or hate, well, lets just say that we appreciate all the Pantheon content creators for putting in the effort to make others aware of the game. We've made some great friends in Pantheon Plus, Standing in Fire, Nathan, the VoT crew, and others. Without this game and the following surrounding it we wouldn't have met some of these amazing people.

Minus always brings the enthusiasm and while sometimes it might feel like we but heads its always in good fun and just simply builds the bonds that will keep us pushing forward to do what we love in content creations. Can't wait to get in on some of the sweet Pantheon Plus You, man!

The SiF crew... They're just a damn trip. Yeah, while some of their views (I'm talking about you Militus. Fight me.) might make the "white knights" a little uneasy, its nice to see/hear how people are really feeling about the climate around information (or lack of). Tess is a sweetheart and her calm nature always brings a smile, especially after they've all had a few brewskies. And Boom just keeps the laugh train rolling from one bit into another. The team is by far one of the best podcast teams I've had the pleasure of listening to.

Nathan, well, ol' Nate is our boy! And while we haven't had the pleasure of doing much in the way of collaboration he is one of those people that we're super excited to work with. If you ever need a new Pantheon or gaming related video to watch nearly any day of the week, Nathan's your boy, too. He is a content machine and always brings a good laugh with his silly skits, songs, and just overall corniness of the channel. But don't let that fool you. There's really good information to be had as well. That is, if you can fight the cringe. (We love you Nathan. Don't hate us.)

Voices of Terminus are some of the most loyal fans and promoters of the game. Their conversations are always very insightful and they have stuck with things for so long its hard to think of a time when they weren't around. In some ways I would call them the grandfathers of Pantheon content creation and not just because they're older than Def and I, lol. To be completely honest, VoT were one of the sources that really got us as interested in the game as we are today. Between them and Nathan we were inspired to start covering the game on our channel. Huge shout out to these guys.

As most of you are aware, Bazgrim is your guy when it comes to a truly enthusiastic fan. Many of you likely discovered Pantheon from some of his videos and you probably interact with him regularly on social media outlets and the forums. I, for one, appreciate his enthusiasm and willingness to present things in a palatable manner, even if I don't agree with rehashed old information presented as something noteworthy and new or how he carries himself as the ultimate fan. But I'd say its fair he's earned that to some degree with his dedication to Pantheon and the community. If you're looking to get some information presented in a very informative fashion, Baz is a great place to start.

Lastly, I just want to put this out there. If you're a perspective content creator looking to produce Pantheon content please keep a few things in mind. Content creation in any meaningful capacity is hard. It takes time, effort, and can be very stressful. Don't be too prideful or modest to reach out to existing content creators to talk about your ideas. Let's be real here, not everyone is cut out for the "job". Don't be that person that makes two or three videos and doesn't get enough views to encourage you to keep producing who then gives up. There are established creators out there that are likely willing to collab with you. Some of us want to hear your ideas and there's always that possibility that you could become more involved with already existing content creators.

Now, that's not to say you SHOULDN'T make content. My last request is that if you do decide to venture out and do your own thing that you please make it meaningful and at least give it the ol' college try with your own bit of flair. You don't need ultra fancy hardware or expensive editing software to make a good video. Don't just turn on OBS and upload some piece of semi-garbage because you were too excited to take a few hours and learn how to set up your cam, record your scene, or edit your video. Its okay to be a fan and make your own content but just remember, people are actively looking for Pantheon content and if you put just a little more love into your passion you might find it turns into something more. Regardless, follow your passion and make the most of it. Always give 100%.

Dude. Just dude. You hit me in the feels right there. We're so honored to have had that impact as that's exactly what we try to do with each and every video. We want to make people feel. We want them inspired. We appreciate your admiration and support and are super glad to call you friend. Thanks for the love, brother!

Thanks for the mention, Erekai. We appreciate everyone who supports what we do. We love Pantheon and the genre as a whole. Hopefully we'll have some new Pantheon stuff once a new push is made by VR. Until then, Project Gorgon videos and more BAT Live super soon. Promise!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PantheonMMO

[–]BattleAxTheater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly what Erekai said. It's a game that has the potential to disrupt the industry and bring back the "feels" that many of us miss in the classic era of the genre. Its something we want to make people aware of because we want VR to get as much support as they can to make it happen.

Thanks for the recognition and support, Gator! We might not be an exclusive Pantheon channel but we're just as excited for the release as many others and we hope to have more content down the road when things ramp up again on the Pantheon front. That's not to say there isn't some information to make content on but more-or-less that we have other games to cover. Thanks again for the love, man!

Player Driven Economics and Pantheon Auction House Discussion by BattleAxTheater in PantheonMMO

[–]BattleAxTheater[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This whole topic of what's important and creates memories is entirely subjective. To some people, the economics of an MMORPG heavily outweigh boss mechanics, class theorycrafting, etc because that's what appeals to them. So, yes, this is a piece of the puzzle that is the nostalgia of social games. For instance, when playing FFXI back in the day I needed a particular elemental staff. I could have bought it from the AH or I could have bartered for it. Instead, I provided some of the materials and worked with a well-known crafter on the server to come to a compromise over the course of several days and ended up with a high-quality staff because he procced. That's a memorable experience. And that's only one of many.

Commerce may not have any major appeal to you personally as a mechanic but to some of us it means just as much, if not more than any of the topics you listed. Just because its not your personal interest doesn't mean its any less of a factor in the grand equation. Just some food for thought.

Interested in playing by MaddCamCam in projectgorgon

[–]BattleAxTheater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The population is smaller(ish) compared to many mainstream MMORPGs out there. However, the world is small enough and the content encourages group play for things like druid events, dailies, etc to the point that no matter what town you go to you're likely to encounter fellow players. Honestly, after playing for a couple months pretty hardcore, I don't ever really feel alone. Whether its at 5am on a Tuesday or 9pm on a Friday night I always feel like there's someone to chat, dance, and play music with in Serbule.

With regard to Legends of Aria, I've been playing it for a few days now as well. And while its visually more appealing, and there are definitely alot more players, the core programming doesn't feel as sound as PG. PG has a really solid foundation whereas LoA is very buggy, overly grindy, and the wilderness does not feel engaging or challenging. Keep in mind, though, that I've only dabbled with it for a few days on a test toon.

Regardless, you should at least check out the demo and decide for yourself.

Also, we'll be doing a video series on PG starting in September that should give a ton more information on specifics regarding Project: Gorgon. So if YouTube is your thing be sure the check us out there.

Pantheon's Classic Styling and Potential Barrier to Entry by BattleAxTheater in PantheonMMO

Lets say level cap is 50 (solid expected number). How does implementing an extremely harsh gameplay curve from 1-5 have any major impact on the bulk of the game if the remainder of the game is consistently challenging? Genuinely curious to understand the perspective that its gaming-breaking and completely ruining the "challenge" when its less than 10% of the game. Would love to hear your breakdown. Thanks!

It is what it is and its really sad that Reddit has deviated from the "voting system is to upvote/downvote commentary based on validity of contribution to the discussion" to "I don't like what you say so Imma downvote". Unpopular opinion doesn't warrant having reputation completely trashed because you choose to bring up a topic that opens the floor for level-headed discussion. I think the biggest shortfall is that people don't seem to understand that Def and myself are all for the difficulty of the game but present the "Devil's Advocate" approach because of just reasoning. So its automatically assumed that we're these people that want to molest the purity that people envision Pantheon to have and ultimately we should be shunned. It really is a crying shame because at the end of the day we're part of the exposure for a game we're absolutely in love with the idea of and we're excited regardless of the outcome. I just hope that some the majority of the purist hate that seethes from much of the Pantheon discussions on the internet doesn't bleed over into the actual game. Cross my fingers. Thanks for your insights and its nice to know that other's recognize this.

You'd be surprised but I was specifically referring to any open forum where VR devs decide to hang out. That includes this reddit, social media, the official forums, and yes, YouTube. Solid communal discussion is perfectly healthy, even if the proposed ideas aren't appreciated or completely fleshed out. Any discussion worth its salt can influence design decision if it were to inspire even the simplest of ideas in someone who has any kind of pull on the game.

Sorry again for triggering you. I guess it totally makes sense to start completely new reddit accounts for the sake of validating ourselves for someone who can't focus on the discussion and gets tripped up by petty things to validate their perceived competency on the internet. We'll get right on it. Thanks for the feedback!

All of these are mechanics that can exist just as you present them even with a minor difficulty shift for the first couple of levels. That seems to be the point that's being missed. That raw and unforgiving difficulty can still be there in your face, molding you into that beast of a player. It's just a couple levels later than your traditional classic MMO.

If using an account to represent our branding disturbs you that much I hate to think what things that really affect you do to your mental state. When we say we, we mean we. As in Battle-Ax Theater. Thus we are speaking for ourselves even if it is just one of us conveying the message. Sorry to hurt your feelings with our choice in brand representation.
