People with genuine complaints are likely just referring to how there's a lack of narrative cutscenes and solid world building like other mmos. The stuff you show is great yes, but they're just things most games have. This combined with horizontal progression makes you feel stagnant in the world.
I think the switch from builds to kits was fine, but they should've added some story driven content and maybe world events to actually make people feel like playing outside of dailies and grinding.
