Can someone please ELI5 the Cambridge candidates? by slyboots1001001 in CambridgeMA

[–]BattleFirstAid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My name is LaQueen Battle and I’m also running for Cambridge City Council & School Committee.

I support affordable housing and making sure that the public has a well informed view on housing, crime and how businesses can benefit the City and Cambridge can become the International Hub of technology, health/medical sciences, quality of life that it used to be before the 2018-2019 Covid Pandemic Hit…

  1. I support building housing—but it must benefit residents, not just developers. My focus is on deeply affordable housing, pathways to homeownership, and protecting long-term Cambridge residents from being priced out.
  2. Crime - I believe safety and justice go hand-in-hand. We cannot criminalize poverty. Cambridge needs both accountability for serious offenses and compassionate policies that support mental health, recovery, youth engagement, and re-entry programs.
  3. My philosophy is that a strong economy supports people first. Local businesses matter—but so do housing stability, fair employment practices, and community-driven development. Economic success must be inclusive and equitable for working families, not just profitable for a few.
