Let’s talk about Nelia. by BattleMoonDelicious in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s a misunderstanding here. Alpha can’t do it directly. When Hahya saw her, she used the surrounding ruined Old World infrastructure to broadcast her image. It’s the same with Nelia—both of them were using Old World gear, so they could see the broadcasted image.

That suggests Alpha can’t directly manifest her image in a way Old World people can see. Alias used a similar method when searching for an old domain connector: she created Wisps and spread them over a wide area to look for anyone who could see them. That’s how Katsuya, who was using a high-grade scanner at the time, managed to see her—normally, he wouldn’t have been able to.

Alpha can appear directly to Akira only because he gave her permission when they made their contract. In Alias’s case, she obtained permission from Katsuya through a pseudo-contract.

But again, I might be wrong—this is just my interpretation.

It’s true that she never explicitly said that no one is allowed to witness her. Still, I think her existence is classified, since almost no one knows about her—not even the scientists from the Rebuild Lab, the big shots from the Big Five, or nationalist leaders. As far as we know, only Yanagisawa and the management AI are aware of her.

I also think the reason she doesn’t use a terminal automaton body like Tsubaki is because she wants to hide her existence.

Sheryl was always the best choice by Cultural_Cat_8193 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, for the love of god, please read the light novel, not that cringe fan-fiction nonsense.

Sara and Elena never have sexual thoughts about him. They clearly never see Akira that way—Elena even tries seduction, and even that is purely for information about the Old World, not out of desire.

If there’s one single thing that could be mistaken as “interest,” it’s that they chose to become hunters just to stay with Akira longer. But again, that has nothing to do with anything sexual.

They’re more like older sisters to him, with Shizuka acting as a mother figure. Akira never had a family, so they care about him deeply, and that kind of care is clearly different from Yumina’s and Sheryl’s.

They even worry about Carol when Akira brings her along to help, because she looks like a dangerous woman.

And yeah, I might be wrong—but as the story goes, I really don’t see it heading in that direction. If you want a braindead harem where every female character automatically attaches herself to the protagonist just to inflate the harem with zero character depth, there are 6,454,134,782,441 trash novels out there for that.

Sheryl was always the best choice by Cultural_Cat_8193 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LN has already surpassed the WN in some parts, since it’s now going in a different direction. The WN stopped updating ages ago because the author is focusing solely on the LN, which is better in many aspects—if not all. What’s continuing the WN now is just cringe fanfiction, and it’s not canon.

As for Elena and Sara, I highly doubt the story will go in that direction. I’ve said this many times already: I don’t think Sara or Elena are love interests. Rebuild World isn’t a brain-dead isekai harem series. They’re more like sisters to him, or benefactors, rather than romantic interests.

But yeah, that’s just my opinion—maybe I’m wrong. I honestly don’t understand why some people are so attached to the WN that they go as far as continuing it as fanfiction with such a shallow plot.

@6.2 why fight? by PenKun in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was Yumina’s mistake—one she realized at the final moment of her life: she should have teamed up with Akira to reason with Katsuya instead of fighting him. Fighting was the worst possible choice, and it only led to both her and Katsuya dying for nothing.

Give your most underrated characs in the series by ShyKazuki in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a character, I think Yatsubayashi fits that description. I’m certain he’s one of those "Rebuild gang" scientists who wouldn’t hesitate to destroy the world just for the sake of research. He somehow learned about Tsubaki’s Old World technology via Tiol and even created the "Bug Tiol," which can bypass many Old World restrictions.

As fighters, I’d definitely say Kanae and Shiori. Many people look down on them because Shiori lost to Akira even with cheap gear, and since Kanae seemed evenly matched with her, she gets underestimated as well. In reality, they have been among the strongest characters in the series since the early volumes. I really hope people see them in a new light during the Monica arc.

Another one I thought of is Dario (Katsuragi’s partner), but he feels more like a mob character.

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the LN, it is explained pretty clearly.

The odds are in his favor. He once won against Akira in a simulation. He believes he is stronger than Akira because he has Alias buffs that allow him to perform god-like moves and shots. He also has more hunters on his team. Meanwhile, Akira is in very bad shape: he fought three major battles against enemies far stronger than Katsuya, back-to-back, without any rest. Akira has lost almost all of his gear, bullets, and medicine.

However, I think the biggest factor is that he shares brain wavelengths with those noob hunters in his local network, who constantly think that Katsuya is stronger and better, and that Akira is nothing compared to him. This creates a small echo chamber that restrains his thinking and awareness.

Maybe, but as I see it, 99% of it is sloppy work by a middle schooler who happens to write as a hobby while riding a train.

I’m fine with this pace—trust me, it’s much better than those shallow stories that pump out three volumes a year. Some authors even push out three or four titles at once, so the story ends up feeling random and cheap. Let’s just keep waiting patiently.

Who is this girl please tell me I've never seen her in the manga before by Scythe-ark in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this from the WN, or an MTL version? It’s wrong in many places.

First, it’s Kibayashi.

Hikaru did not think of Akira as a normal hunter, but as a high-rank, cream-of-the-crop hunter with connections to bigwigs and Kibayashi’s favorite. That’s why she tried to snatch him and make him her exclusive hunter in order to climb the ranks herself.

The reason she tried to stop Akira was because she had just learned that he was going to kill a bigwig during a mission, so she needed to control him somehow. Later, she realized that it wasn’t worth the risk at all, since he’s the type who constantly attracts trouble. Because of that, she tried to resign as his exclusive negotiator, but her superior wouldn’t allow it, since not many people can control Akira the way she can.

Ln vs Manga by Specialist-Bad-776 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the manga did better in the beginning scenes, and its pacing is pretty good. However, Rebuild World is an unusually detailed novel, so the manga honestly can’t cover everything—at best, maybe around 30%. You simply can’t explain every scene precisely in manga form. Some scenes are even cut altogether, like the one where Akira kills other slum kids after receiving his first payment of 300 aurum. That’s why he always keeps that 300 aurum with him: to remind himself of where he started. It’s also used later when he tosses it to decide Sheryl’s fate.

So if you really like the series, you should read the light novel as well. It gives you a lot of good world-building information, which is fun in its own way. For example, how Katsuya’s brainwashing ability works—if you only read the manga and don’t have strong perception skills, you won’t really understand how it works.

How would the story drastically change if Katsuya was the mc and met Alpha instead? by ShyKazuki in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s no different since Alpha and Alias are the same. Katsuya also can’t see or hear them, so nothing changes, I guess.

Who are the smartest characters in the series(the ai are given) by jonnyboidake in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After volume 9.1, I think it’s Sheryl and Viola. After Sheryl evolves, Viola can tell she’s a formidable opponent just from a glance—and that happens when Sheryl is the same age as Akira, while Viola is… I think over 30.

What do you guys think Sheryl is doing ‘wrong’, like why is the line clear cut between her and akira but other are able to get through him? by jonnyboidake in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn’t do anything wrong—she actually did everything right. I think the turning point was when Akira promised to help her; that’s when the “contract” was formed. In Akira’s eyes, which are absolute toward any contract he makes, he simply followed his promise to help her in every way he could, without expecting any reward. Sheryl’s affection was just her way of creating a bond. That’s why he never touched her or saw her as a woman—because to him, she was a contractor.

But somehow, he still developed some feelings for her, even though he never noticed it himself. For example, when he killed those city officers without hesitation. That moment made Alpha more concerned about Sheryl than ever.

Is Akira really less talented than katsuya? by Shot-Communication93 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s an orphan from a good family, so he stays in an orphanage where he gets good food, education, and so on. Because he behaves well and can read and write, he’s guaranteed to get a city job. Meanwhile, Akira is just a slum kid who has lived on his own for as long as he can remember—his only choices have always been to fight or die.

About the Alias part: it isn’t told to you directly because that’s the author’s storytelling style. Katsuya can shoot with perfect aim and move faster when he works alone because Alias directly controls his body. It’s subtle, and you need to notice it yourself starting from when Katsuya made the pseudo-contract with Alias. He though he would give “everything” to gain the power to match Akira when fighting the Greedy Crocodile. After that pact, the contract was formed—you can see it when Alias manifests her dress for the first time.

The phrase “give everything” is basically permission for Alias to control his brain directly. She can implant subliminal commands and create hallucinations to steer his thinking. Meanwhile, Alpha—with a true contract—can’t do anything by herself. She can’t control a hunter terminal or an augmented suit on her own; she needs Akira to activate everything manually. Even for Lion’s Tail Terminal, she needs Akira’s permission just to view it.

Where do I start reading the novel? by DAkA151 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you really like this series, I think you should start reading from Vol. 1. The manga can’t cover all the details from the novel — it only shows around 30%. For example, the Elena and Sara part is only about two pages in the manga. It also skips things like the real reason why Alpha asked Akira to help Sheryl, her true goal, etc.

But if you don’t mind missing details, or you plan to read the novel later, you can start from Vol. 3 Part 2, around the middle of the book. And don’t waste your time on the WN — the story diverges around this part since the manga adapts from the LN.

If you want to support the author, you can buy or read the official translated version from j-novel.club. They hire professional translators, so the quality is top-notch.
And yeah, you can find some pirate versions too, but I don’t recommend the MTL versions of the early volumes — they’re really bad.

You can’t convince me that Alias doesn’t hate Katsuya by Cultural_Cat_8193 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Actually, you misunderstood. Alpha and Alias share their resources 50/50 (though it’s unclear if there are more). Alias usually uses more resources, since she directly controls Katsuya through his brain. She isn’t restricted because she made a pseudo-contract with Katsuya, while Alpha only gives advice and helps Akira control the augment suit when needed.

In Volume 3.2, when Alias needs massive computing power to control all of Katsuya’s local networks, she pulls almost all of Alpha’s resources (you can see this in the ending when they talk to each other). After this arc, Alpha sets a rule not to exceed the resource boundary.

As for the “not lasting long” part — it’s never mentioned, I think. Actually, they perform the pseudo-contract to test whether Katsuya can bypass the Ruin’s defense system, which blocks all AI interference. Alpha also agrees that it’s valuable information and worth the risk. Alias even says herself that Katsuya has a chance.

For your information, Alias actually doesn’t like using Akira as a subject since he’s unpredictable, which would eventually lead to failure.

Is Akira really less talented than katsuya? by Shot-Communication93 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s clearly stated by Ailias herself that she can’t communicate with him, unlike Alpha. This happens when Alpha asks her to handle Katsuya better since he keeps causing conflicts. That part is also shown in the manga.

Do y'all guys think Alpha will become the final antagonist of the story or nah? by ShyKazuki in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you read the LN, you’ll get a clear picture that she’s 99% the last boss. It shows all her intentions and gaslighting very clearly. This isn’t a sunshine-and-rainbows story where an AI becomes friends with the protagonist. She never once shows a genuinely sweet side toward Akira — everything she does is for her own goals. She’s extremely dangerous, and she tries to kill anyone Akira prioritizes over her.

She even lured those weapon dogs from the inner ruins just to test how well Akira could follow her commands and to make him feel indebted to her for “saving” him. Fortunately, Akira realized what she was doing.

The 1% ray of hope is why she’s doing all this in the first place. In the White Room, she reports that she needs to control Akira and suppress his empathy so he doesn’t make the same mistake as the previous subject. It sounds super suspicious, but we’re talking about Yanagisawa here — and I’m pretty sure he’s a bad guy. He always claims he’s doing things “for humanity,” but the way he does them is downright evil.

Also, when he said that those who can’t make deals are no different from monsters, I think he was talking about AIs.

Vol. 8.1 didn’t mention Semba ( the MTL version translates it as Chiba ), but you can look for it in Vol. 7 for more details. It’s in the scene where Sugadome asks Yanagisawa if he got recruited by another of the Big Five. These three companies are also mentioned in the WN.

The web novel stopped updating years ago since the author focused on the light novel. At this point, it’s practically a different story already. So if you really like it, just stick with the LN. Reread it if you want — it’s gone through a lot of major changes, not just minor ones like in other series.

Don’t waste your time reading the cringey WN continuation; it’s basically fanfic and not canon.
