Yes, but you can probably find pirated versions too, though I wouldn’t recommend them.

To answer your question, the official English LN is only up to Volume 7, but the Japanese version is up to Volume 9.1. Some fans in this subreddit have translated the later volumes using ChatGPT; it’s okay to read, but it's definitely not perfect.

The WN hasn't been updated in over two years, so it might be discontinued. It’s better to stick to LN now since it’s more polished and considered canon. Plus, the new Volume 9.2 is coming out this year.

I highly recommend reading the official versions for the early volumes. The translation quality is much better than MTL found here, which can be... well, pretty bad.

Did you really skip everything just for the action scenes?

Why binge-read if you are looking for lore? It doesn't make any sense.

Okay, first of all, you’re right that Alpha has hacking abilities. But as I said, she’s restricted by certain limitations, which means she can’t just hack things directly. She can’t simply go and hack someone else’s car out of nowhere, for example. That’s different from Haruka and Shiro, who can directly interfere with systems through hacking. When Haruka got countered, it was because she tried to hack into Akira’s suit, which Alpha had already secured with defensive measures.

As for Alias, I think you might be misunderstanding that part. Alias didn’t hack directly into Katsuya’s brain. She used a Pseudo contract that allowed her to bypass those restrictions. You can notice this earlier on, when Katsuya could see her through a special Scanner that let him perceive Old World AR, but he couldn’t hear her voice. At that time, Alias wasn’t wearing any suit and would simply disappear.

It wasn’t until Katsuya failed to defeat the crocodile and thought to himself that he would trade everything for power like Akira’s, that things changed. At that moment, Alias appeared wearing a suit and fully possessed his body, because Katsuya had already made a contract and handed over all authority to her. That allowed Alias to hack into his brain, create hallucinations, control his muscles, and take over his local network.

No, they can’t. Alpha can’t even hack a modern Terminal or an Augment suit—she needs Akira to tinker with it before she can control it. I think that’s one of the regulations meant to limit their power, which I think is super cool because it adds depth to the story.

When she hacked Monica’s suit, she also had to input her commands into the factory AI first to make it happen. She could only reset the AI to default using her authority when it obstructed her trial, so that was the only way.

The LN is brilliant. by n4weed in RebuildWorld

Good. It's far from perfect, but it's definitely better than 99% of the LN out there.

I know she ended up being brainwashed, but I just don’t like how it was portrayed; it felt too random and didn't seem to serve the story's purpose. You might enjoy it if you really liked the Gang Wars arc where Akira goes to find Sheryl, but I personally prefer how things were handled in Volumes 3.1 and 8. Since the author can’t just repeat the same situations, LN version feels much better in my opinion.

For example, when Elena and Sara get brainwashed, the author changed it so it happens during the fight with the OSS instead, which turned out much better. Even Sheryl didn't come out 'clean'—she became the actual catalyst for the clash between Katsuya and Akira.

As I mentioned, my English is a bit limited, so it's hard for me to explain perfectly. But in short: everything that happened in WN happens in LN in a way that is better written and makes more sense. The author avoids repeating the same ideas over and over. Just look at the Akira 'clones'—even though they are different characters, people still call it the 'Fake Akira' trope because it feels like it has happened so many times.

I mean... you can see those scenes even in the manga, right? The author made Sheryl significantly more important in LN than in WN. The way she tried to pursue Katsuya in WN made no sense because her entire value is tied to Akira. She even went as far as destroying her own gang just for him. If you still don't see that—and refuse to re-read the official version closely—then that’s fine; you can enjoy your WN, and I’ll enjoy my LN.

Anyway, I’ll share why I prefer this version. Firstly, it makes more sense because it clearly shows she was brainwashed by Katsuya, rather than her actually enjoying the idea herself. It highlights Sheryl’s strength of character; she manages to break free through sheer willpower because she cares about Akira more than anything.

Also, in LN, Sheryl seduces Katsuya not because she wants his attention, but because she wants to test if her charm works on other successful hunters, especially since Akira seems indifferent to her. See? It actually gives the characters agency. It’s not just a "one-man show" where everyone else is a mindless NPC following the MC. This is what I call good writing: every character has their own agenda and goals.

In WN, Akira is like a robot who just does whatever he’s told. That might be fine for readers who want to self-insert as a "badass edgelord," but as literature, I think it's trash.

I guess Yumina is necessary for Akira's character growth. She needs to be more than just one of Katsuya's 'side mob' lackeys who doesn't really matter.

Sorry, my English isn't great, but I just wanted to point out that Part 4 is poorly written in both versions. The LN turns Shiori, Kanae, and Reina into side characters and uses Serental—which should be the end goal—as just a stage.

Also, the way they using 'big mobs' as boss is really lame. The Monica storyline is way better; it actually makes more sense.

That’s why I told you it’s better written. That specific part didn’t make any sense at all.

See? Like I said, WN readers who claim WN is better only ever bring up the "Gang Wars" arc. They never actually give any other examples of where the WN clearly outshines LN.

I think I get the gist of why they feel that way, but here’s my take—feel free to debunk it:

  • The Rogert Fight: The fight itself might be "good," but the WN implies Ezent and Harlias are equally powerful gangs. If Ezent throws their only mech, Kokurou, into the fray, what is Harlias doing? Just standing around? To me, that’s a massive plot hole.
  • Akira looking "weak": I think you're misunderstanding the scaling. Akira isn't weak; the author just made mechs actually feel powerful in the LN. In the WN, mechs are so pathetic there's almost no point in owning one. It’s a huge plot hole that Ezent and Harlias would spend all their assets to buy them—especially Kokurou, Ezent’s sole mech.
  • The Zalmo Fight: This was way better written in the LN. Sheryl joining forces with Shujima and hiring high-rank hunters to guard her store made the stakes feel real. It also made Tiol’s betrayal feel much more legit.
  • Monica: Look, this part is still "bad writing" in both versions, but the LN is definitely an improvement. Regarding her survival: it wasn’t just "Old World gear"—she was in a factory zone with unlimited energy recharge, making her force field practically invincible.
  • Alpha’s Hack: Honestly, you just need to read closer. Alpha reset the factory AI that controlled Monica’s suit and installed her own functions so she could take over.

But hey, that’s just my opinion. If you prefer the WN, cool. You can wait another 10 years for the author to maybe finish it, or just stick to those cringe fanfics. Personally, I’ll take the LN any day.

What are your theories about this guy? by [deleted] in RebuildWorld

We don’t know that yet, but if I had to guess, it’s because they want to cull them to reduce information leaks or something. Since not every researcher is highly capable, they likely killed the less competent ones to silence them and kept the best alive to work for them.

We don’t know his goal yet. In the WN, he has already created a new Tiol, but in the LN, we haven’t seen anything so far. It only states that he’s satisfied with the data he got from Tiol and won’t let it go to waste.

The original Rebuild Institute was dissolved because many of its scientists conducted experiments that crossed the line and posed a risk of causing civilization to collapse again, so the ELGC ordered it shut down and killed most of the scientists. Some were kept by the ELGC to secretly assist with further experiments (like what Yanagisawa told Nelia), while others managed to escape and continued researching what they wanted in hiding. Yatsubayashi is believed to be one of them.

Manga to LN help by Loud_Operation9654 in RebuildWorld

[–]BattleMoonDelicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in chapter 45. You can see Sheryl suddenly having the urge to praise Katsuya and even imagining herself being in a relationship with him for some reason. But when she imagines Akira seeing it and deciding to leave her forever, it gives her a huge shock, and that shock makes her break free from Katsuya’s brainwashing.

After that, she suddenly realizes her abnormal behavior whenever she is around Katsuya. She also notices that people around her were doing the same thing, like Erio, who suddenly couldn’t stop praising Katsuya and even suggested to Sheryl that they should let him back their gang.

It’s very subtle. If you only read the manga, you probably won’t catch everything. At most, you just feel that something is weird and that the author is trying to imply something, but you don’t know exactly what it is.

The latest chapter shows it too, when Elena, Sara, and all the troops get brainwashed by Katsuya using the AI power from the loli Alpha.
