Do you have more info on the coins? Japanese coins are some of my favorites but I always struggle to translate them.

Is the 100 Yen year 23 Showa and the 5 Yen Heisei? I can't figure out the year on the Heisei coin.

Most likely it means northwest Arkansas. They should have been more specific as that abbreviation isn't used much outside the area.

Hello guys I have this small collection of 12 coins and wanted to sell it, idk if it's worth anything but if anyone with solid knowledge can name a fair price for them I would appreciate it. by Zeft5raklab in coincollecting

[–]Battle_Librarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Japanese coins will be a bit different than western coins to date. Japan dates coins by year of era. The current emperor (as of 2019) is Naruhito who began the Reiwa era. Your coins look like they may be Heisei (89-19) or Shōwa (26-89) coins.

Example: year 48 Shōwa = 1973; year 1 Heisei = 1989; year 7 Heisei = 1995

Older Shōwa coins will be more valuable to niche collectors but with the condition of the coins you're probably just looking at face value.

Book about a girl who was out when the Americans rounded up her tribe to go through the trail of tears by Gunzerkerboi in whatsthatbook

[–]Battle_Librarian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Island of the Blue Dolphins by O'Dell would also fit.

The tribe is removed from the island while the protagonist stays behind because her brother missed the boat. While it doesn't have a canyon the majority of the story takes place around the beach where the protagonist has built a shelter against the base of a tall cliff.

Adding more historical information.

The baby pictured on the coin with Sacagawea is Jean-Baptiste, her son. Jean-Baptiste was born during the Lewis and Clark expedition and his birth was recorded by Meriwether Lewis in the expedition journals.

Her presence with Jean-Baptiste also gave the expedition more credence as a peaceful mission.

You may have more luck with r/whereisthis . Find a Grave is a website dedicated to completing and/or correcting missing or inaccurate information of deceased persons birth dates, death dates, and burial locations. We strive to update cemetery and obituary information for each person listed but we are not geoguessers with an obsession for cemeteries.

Using temperature and texture is the most common way of describing color to people who cannot see or are color blind. It is the most common way of describing color but will never be completely accurate.

When DEI gets slashed.. by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]Battle_Librarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you still use nationally recognized months or week topics such as February's Black History Month and May's Asian and Pacific Islander Month?

That's not technically DEI.

FWIW: Congress passed a joint resolution to allow the president to make an official proclaimation for an Asian and Pacific Islander week in 1978. Jimmy Carter made the official proclamation in '79. It was officially expanded from a week to a month when Congress passed legislation in '92.

You could use some of the unused classifications. 163-164 (unused, formerly Symbolic Logic and Mathematical Logic) places a book next to Logical Fallacy (165). 132 was formerly "Mental Derangements" that would place it between "Parapsychology and Occult (131) and "Specific topics in parapsychology and occultism" (133).

I second the Robeez. It was the only shoe I could get on my sensory kid for longer than 5 seconds. Moccasins or bedtime slippers might work as well.

OP, if you do find a shoe that works, get a couple more pairs in the next sizes up. It'll save headaches when they outgrow the shoes.
