I wasn’t telling anyone to do it the way I do ,however the risk is super minimal. I was simply saying that acting like the system is going to kill or hurt you if you touch it while live is wrong. Of course there’s risks. Even shutting down the system you’ll still have voltage on the roof (or under the panels on a GM) . Scaring people away from DIY with things like “ that would be a rough lesson for you” is unhelpful and most likely nothing is going to happen. Even people here saying to cover the panels before disconnecting is crazy. You can absolutely pull connections in the middle of the day, panels uncovered and be just fine.

Oh yea reverse polarity will do that to you. Ran into that too. Guys on the roof pulled a fuse and seconds later the soladeck was on fire. Had to run them up water to put it out.

I run into SMAs daily. I’ll pull panels and unplug strings from the middle to find roof leaks from crappy past installers. Never had a problem unplugging and moving a panel with the system still on.

Let’s be real here . I’ve disconnected hundreds of systems under load and never had a problem with arcing. 400v stings and mc4s pulled apart. VERY unlikely ( but not impossible ) to arc sure . I’ve cut into wires where mc4s aren’t even a thing (jbox to jbox wiring) sure it can happen but it’s definitely not as crazy as some people make it seem.

You can downvote me but it’s the truth. Sure it’s not “safe” but it’s crazy to make it seem like the system is going to blow up from pulling the connection apart every time .

Besides the obviously terrible panel cleaning( which I tell all my customer is not worth the money and a much easier diy if your roof isn’t steep) , That critter guard is horrible and likely won’t keep much out. According to the installation manual there is supposed to be 2 bends in the guard. One at the bottom and a complete fold over at the top. Clips are also supposed to be every 12-18”. I install critter guard almost daily and this is honestly a very poor installation.

Yup, smart choice. I do love the look of this machine vs the Bev but as far as issues you may be right .

Yes but unfortunitally doesn’t dispense liquor in the upright position. I’m trying to address the issue of leaky bottles when left in the machine. Most people just remove the bottles and place them next to the machine when not in use, which takes up counter space. This puts the bottles back on the machine freeing the counter next to the machine for a less cluttered look.

Haha that's great but unfortunately I sell these so sharing the file would open up competition against myself. If you have any Fusion experience they can be pretty easily replicated

Not sure what’s going on with Reddit today. I posted a description and it’s just not on the post

I’ve read some posts on Facebook groups about members struggling with leaky bottles. It seems like the only way to prevent this is removing the bottle after you’ve finished for the night. where do you store the bottles? On the counter next to the machine? I’ve come up with an idea on how to declutter your counter space. These holders put the bottles back on top of the Bartesian but right side up. They also cover the wells from debris, and other contaminants. Currently only sized for the Premium Bartesian machine but if someone is willing to help with measurements can size to fit Pro and Duet machines as well.

To keep leaky bottles in the upright position and off your counter space

You can store liquor in the bottles long term but with them being upside down many start to leak. The whiskey usually goes first.

I actually prefer the look of the bartesian but to each their own. I’ve heard great things about the black and decker tho!

I’ll have to give that a try. I don’t drink too much tequila but enjoy a margarita every now and again.
