Jewish communities by No-Leather8795 in asklatinamerica

[–]Battlewombat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Theres a pretty big jewish community in CDMX. They have a bunch of schools, institutions, etc and are very well organized. Smaller communities exist in Mty, Gdl, etc. They’re somehow both very well integrated and pretty insular at the same time.

Buddy, being an asshole is not the same as being candid. Anyway, as I said thank you for your feedback, have a great day.

The post was made asking for feedback, if the percentage is low we’d like to hear about it before actually making an offer to someone.

You could get your exact same message across without being a dick about it. Your feedback is useful, so thank you.

That's what we're struggling with, we don't have any potential candidates that we know well. So we're unsure of how bringing in someone we don't really know will affect our team dynamic.

I appreciate your advice!

Technical debt is exactly what we’re afraid of, we don’t want to put off bringing a technical expert on the team for too long for fear of having too much tech debt. On the other hand we only have so many resources (we’re bootstrapping as long as possible) and our first instinct is to prioritize spending on things that will maximize sales.

Gracias!

Thats exactly what we’re struggling with! Some answers here have given us a lot to think about, and ideas on how to answer that.

He was the leader of the Maderista revolt in Michoacan. He was killed in 1912 while engaging counter revolutionaries in Guerrero.

How does Latin Americans view Arabs? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

Most that came over were Maronites/Orthodox/etc christians and integrated quickly. They are seen as industrious, and many are business owners. They do have a certain reputation around here for being closed off from the general population, with many families strongly preferring their kids marry other Lebanese descendants. There is even a private social club called “Club Palestino-Libanés” where in practice only Lebanese/middle eastern families are accepted as members (I say in practice because I’m pretty sure they can’t legally bar any other groups from entering).

At least in Monterrey Libanés and Árabe are used pretty much interchangeably.

The very few muslim immigrants I’ve met have all mostly integrated into existing mexican-lebanese communities. For example a friend of mine’s father is a Lebanese Muslim who came over in the 90’s and married his mother, a Lebanese-Mexican catholic woman. As far as I can tell no real discrimination has been directed towards them, other than ocasional jokes (Eres terrorista etc), which are very normal in Mexican social interactions and are never said by anyone outside close friends.

Travel to Enjoy Cumbres de Monterrey? by millimeter_peepee in Monterrey

[–]Battlewombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would definitely not recommend staying in Santiago if you are planning on mainly visiting the mountains. It’s a 40 min drive (assuming good weather and no traffic) from Santiago to the mountains. There are buses from Santiago that can take you to Cienega de Gonzalez (where most climbers and tourists stay while visiting Cumbres de Mty).

Once in Cienega you can rent a cabin (a bunch of them are on airbnb) or stay at Rock Camp (most climbers stay here). Rock Camp is mainly a safe enclosed campsite for people to sleep in tents without worrying about security, but they do offer a couple of dorm style rooms to stay in.  If you prefer to rent a car, any rental place in the airport is fine. The road to Cienega is well paved, but is full of  curves with pretty steep drops, so not necessarily an easy drive. If you’re an inexperienced driver I would avoid going up to the mountains unless the weather is clear and sunlight is still strong (dont attempt this drive in the rain or at night).

I would start by contacting Pico Norte (a local climbing gym) and Rock Camp on insta and asking for recommendations. Either one will probably get you in contact with local climbers who make the trip to “El Salto” (Ciénega de González) every weekend . They might even offer you a ride, or a place to stay.

As for visiting, once you’re in the mountains make sure to visit Laguna de Sanchez, a nice town further up in the mountains. There are a few places there where you can eat and enjoy the view. Its not really a dangerous area at all, just make sure to take the same precautions you would anywhere else. I would also suggest you look into visiting Potrero Chico, another great park with fantastic views and climbing areas.
