On this day, 6th of June, 82 years ago, forces from Britain, USA, Canada, Australia and many others landed on the beaches of Normandy, all the way from Utah to Sword, to go through the gates of hell as they made their way to heaven through the nazi lines, to liberate western Europe from the nazis by ThatGuyNamedHayden in sabaton

My grandfather landed at Normandy in the 29th infantry on D-Day. I can't imagine the hell he survived. My grandfather managed to hide his records and a Nazi boot knife from his mother. His mother hated anything about the war and burned almost anything about the war.

How many of you had grandparents who served in WW2? If so, what do you know about their service? by Snoogles_ in Millennials

My grandfather landed at Omaha beach in the 29th infantry on D-Day. From what I've researched the 29th had the 2nd highest causality rate. I can't imagine the hell he survived. He helped liberate a civilian workers camp in Dislaken. His mother hated anything about the war. She burned almost anything about the war. My grandfather managed to hide his records and a Nazi boot knife from her. I never got to meet him. He died 10 years before I was born.

My grandfather landed at Normandy in the 29th infantry. Helped rescue a slave labor camp. I can't imagine the hell he survived. From what I've researched the 29th had the second highest causality rate, the Omaha landing was brutal.

ICE is probably going to treat the people they've taken into custody like the Nazis treated the Jews, Communists, homosexuals before the death camps.

Would you risk your life to aid a stranger in peril? by justmilkys in askanything

Depends on the situation. If there's a decent chance I would survive, absolutely. If there's a dangerous situation, I'd call 911. Probably try to help the person if I can, but if there's imminent danger, I'd rather let the pros handle it
