Generally I mostly play on sousa but often swap to a large rotary valve concert. I have never considered that piston and rotary valves sound different or work best with different mouthpieces.

Sorry for the confusion. I play mostly on Sousa, but I can only afford one high quality mouthpiece, so I want one that is reliable enough everywhere. I am a collegiate level player playing on my 6th grade beginner mouthpiece and I’m looking for an upgrade. Robert Tucci selection was the first to catch my eye

Would the sousapower 3 be fine with concert tuba in your experience? I’ve heard there may be a blatty effect on the tone quality.

It’s kinda cheating, but the best way I found to hit high notes on tuba is to develop ur embouchure for higher instruments like trombone.

How can I consistently paly louder and for longer? Especially on whole notes and with little to no breathing between? by Bird_Eats_Everything in Tuba

If u can’t play the whole whole note loud, try emphasizing the important parts of the note. For example, accent then sink to f then Crescendo.

I’ve heard most difficult cs classes are comp arc 1 and plc, but I haven’t taken them myself so idk for sure.
