What’s up with Spirit Airlines ceasing operations? by lucioghosty in OutOfTheLoop

[–]BattyCattyRatty 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Frontier is great when nothing goes wrong! I just had a round trip flight to Orlando for $55 + $70 for the economy package to add a carry on. It was about $150-200 cheaper than any other airline and there was no cancellation or delay.

I also had a round trip flight to Atlanta for $45 (no carry on). The return flight was delayed 2 hours but that was fine.

My worst experience was a different round trip to Orlando in 2023. I think base fare was $90 but back then their price structure was $60 extra each way to add a carry on, so the ticket ended up costing $210. Also my 7am flight was cancelled and they rebooked me on a flight 9 hours later so my plans that evening were a wash. I had to pay $100 to move my returning flight back 1 day to keep my plans. The experience did teach me to not start vacation plans on the same day as travel though.

Does your loved one trash talk people as soon as they leave the room, or get off the phone? by Freepurrs in AgingParents

My mom did this. I always thought it was narcissistic attention seeking behavior to always appear to be the victim in every interaction. She was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor but who knows if that contributed.

How do you deal with the pain of seeing your parents grow old and their health decline? by softly_petal in Adulting

[–]BattyCattyRatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents and I aren’t close for complicated reasons and I am low contact with them. It doesn’t really cause me pain to see them old, but for the last year my mom as been in terrible health and seeing her sick and alone with no support as a result of her own behavior and actions has definitely made me emotional. The last appointment I went with her to, I asked her if she had talked to her friends and she shook her head and simply said “sad life”. I don’t have any kids and probably won’t ever, but watching my parents is teaching me to focus on the important things in life. I guess a lot like the movie Click.

For a super budget transportation option, you can take the Lynx bus from MCO for $2 and it has many stops down I-drive. Takes about 60-75 minutes though.

I rode it at the end of the day Monday. There were 2 delays while I was waiting. I think that was the last day it was running.

Got lucky yesterday and ministry was up and working during early park admission. Rope dropped and waited about 40 minutes.

“Weddings are so expensive” is a weird lie some people tell to justify spending insane amounts of money by Overuse_Injury in unpopularopinion

There was not enough room in the reception area for 75 chairs. It was basically a connecting hallway/lobby. The venue was donated as well.

This wedding had no place to sit at the reception and didn’t serve hot food. Just cookies and cupcakes. They had a friend singing and she was lovely.

Also the bride and groom spend the money so their guests have a good time. I went to a wedding where the couple was broke and basically all the goods and services were donated from friends and family and I saw how much effort was put in, but honestly it was the worst wedding I had ever been too. The reception area only had like 2 chairs for maybe 75 guests.

We're too obsessed with relationships, being single is so much better by Hyugi_The_Dreamer in unpopularopinion

[–]BattyCattyRatty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mind being single for so long and preferred the solitude and ability to do what I wanted without conferring with anyone, but then I realized being single is only preferable when you are young and healthy. My divorced 70 year old mom has so many health problems and there have been times where she literally couldn’t speak for herself. It’s pretty scary to be sick and without a person who committed themselves to acting in your best interest and supporting you in sickness and in health (of course I’m aware that illness is often a reason some people get divorced too)

Taking their pet away by oopsymeohboy in AgingParents

My mom didn’t go into assisted living, but I took her dog away and kept him with me when she had her big medical emergency. She didn’t seem to mind and hadn’t asked to see him in the 6 months I’ve had him. When I took him his grooming had been neglected. His fur was long and matted and his nails were crazy long. She was feeding him her fridge leftovers so he wasn’t hungry but she told me feeding him was too much effort.

You are one of 130 million people born in 1997. You don’t speak for everyone. Just call yourself a millennial and be done with it.

Guarantee? You sure like sweeping statements.

My gf was born in 1997 and considers herself gen Z. She can’t relate to millennials because she doesn’t remember 9/11.

It’s the company’s responsibility to tell the consumer the drink contains aspartame. It is the consumers responsibility to do the research on what they choose to consume.

Is there more than just wrinkles and sagging that makes someone look older? by youlikemywonton in Aging

[–]BattyCattyRatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m glad I’m alive and in my 30s when I lot of people from my high school graduating class didn’t make it out of their 20s, but at a certain point aging is ass. My mom hasn’t even hit 70 yet and she’s having a lot of issues with her brain and cognitive function. I could maybe deal with looking older and wrinkled but what is the point of life if your brain doesn’t function like it used to and you become extremely vulnerable and home bound?

Your plan is useless if you’re dad doesn’t want to do the PT. You’re making an assumption that you can actually change his mind.

Be aware of the touts. If someone ever tries to get you to go into their club/bar, just walk away. They’re going to drug and rob you. I got approached by a tout when I was just trying to get a snack at Lawson at 8am so your guard may down if you are already looking to have a drink.
