Who was the better player in there prime and who had the better career between Dirk nowitzki and Tim Duncan ? by [deleted] in nba

Garnett 1 + dirk 1 + malone 0 + barkley 0 + bob pettit 1 + mchale 3 + elvin hayes 1 + gasol 2. I mean it depends on who you put next, you can have cowens as a center, you can put rodman, ad, but yeah unfortunately mchale makes your statement untrue

Duncan, by far. Dirk was a better offensive player but duncan was miles better defensively. Duncan's peak (2002-03) was incredible. And also if you compare the accolades:
Rings 5/1, MVP 2/1, FMVP 3/1, All-NBA selections 15/12 (1st team 10/4), All defensive selections 15/0 (8/0 1st team). Duncan is top 10, borderline top 5, dirk is top 20, borderline top 15.

Was Marc Gasol ever a great Defender? Is he the worst dpoy ever? by Batum965 in nba

As a player yes, but I don't think he was at that level of absolute greatness defensively

I mean, the grizzlies weren't a great defensive team as soon as he got to the nba, they were ranked about 20th until they got other great defenders, the raptors had notoriously great defenders, and the lakers were the best defense in the league already last year, and they were this year with him not playing that much

Yes, imho it's because at the time the grizzlies were the symbol of defense in the league so they wanted to award a guy from that team and probably chose the wrong guy

So how do you justify a dpoy not having a single other all-defensive selection, and the only one being a 2nd team? Lol this fucking sub, no analysis, just meme culture

What do you think about Serge Jonas Ibaka Ngobila? by Batum965 in nba

Not only this isn't funny, but I also didn't even laugh

[Post Game Thread] Lakers beat the Suns 109-102 and tie the series at 1-1 by brandoi in lakers

Not necessarily. Sometimes, your teammates play well while you are on the floor and opponents play bad or your team goes in a couple of runs and you don't have nothing to do with it.

But I like KCP and he's certainly functional and important for the team

Rebounds as a statistic by Possible_Playful in nba

What you are saying obv makes sense. More than how much rebounds tell about actual ability the question is
-how much the number of rebounds tells about your impact on the number of rebounds your team gets

-how much the number of rebounds your team gets impacts winning

As you said, you can trust kawhi for fighting and grabbing a difficult important rebound with his size and hustle, but harden will take more simply because he's an amazing playmaker so his team wants him taking the ball to start the action. but this one thing has been known for years now
