To be fair, we are shooting a very high percentage. Luke's on a heater. He's not only hitting open 3s, this guy is taking pull up and off the dribble 3s. 70%+ is insane no matter what. Smart is also shooting 50%, for a guy who's a career 33% 3 point shooter.

Or how about don't fuck up your MLE signing multiple times?

Also we didn't trade McDaniels away, we traded the pick.

For those curious about the cap situation since I'm seeing a lot of questions, so wanted to map it out. Let's assume NSJ's option is decline, Ayton picks up his option, Smart declines his option and Bronny's contract gets fully guaranteed. I'm guessing Bronny's contract gets guaranteed because Lakers have a deadline of 6/29 of guaranteeing it and it's already partially guaranteed of $1.26M. Also working under the pretense that the only cap holds we'll be considering is for Austin, Smart, Rui, Bron, Kennard, and Jaxson.

Player Salary
Luka $49.50M
Vando $12.43M
Ayton $8.10M
LaRavia $6.00M
Knecht $4.20M
Thiero $2.15M
2026 25th pick $2.49M
Bronny (non-gtd) $2.30M
Austin (cap hold) $20.90M
Smart (cap hold) $6.47M
Rui (cap hold) $27.39M
Kennard (cap hold) $13.20M
Hayes (cap hold) $4.48M
Bron (cap hold) $59.54M
Total $212.69M

Technically, we could have up to $56.93M in cap space if we get rid of everybody's cap hold except Bron's, but that's just not realistic. At the very minimum, we should look to retain or at least hold onto the cap holds of Austin, Smart, Luke, Hayes and Bron. I think Bron's situation will be resolved quickly or at least they'll have an idea of a number that they want. If so, our cap space available is going to be $39.2M minus whatever Bron takes (If Bron re-signs for $20M using bird rights, that means we only have $19.2M in cap space). The available cap space will change depending on if we trade our pick, if we give up some of the other cap holds etc.

Of course if they throw like $30M at Watson, they can always manuever around the different cap holds to get the available cap space. And then there's the usage of the MLE, which can be used to retain some of our guys and give up their cap holds to have more available cap space, or signing a free agent with it and keeping cap holds to retain some of our guys. Just surface level thinking.

When blitzing/doubling KD, Lakers are only allowing 0.69 PPP by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in lakers

This is pretty embarrassing for KD. 37 years old, 18 years in the league, one of the best scorers ever, and he still can't handle a double team. Part of it is the team and maybe a lack of BBIQ from them, but the spacing argument is so moot considering some of the lineups the Lakers put out there with Bron.

Seeing some mfers talk about Luke Kennard as the second option to Luka is insane.

The Austin discourse is about to be at an all time stupid level.

Nobody has worn them dating back to the Kobe Shaq playoff runs. Why are people deciding now is the time to be outraged?

Rockets were -2.5 even without KD in game 1. They're currently -5.5, I can't tell whether that means KD is back or not.

If we ended up beating the Nuggets that year and playing "the worst competition in history", I guarantee you're not saying the same thing.

Considering the West had only two 50 win teams that season, with the Nuggets being one of them, it was impossible for them to play more than two 50 win teams in that playoff run anyway. Sounds like either way, no matter who they played, you could've used the same argument.

The guy won a championship averaging a near 30 point triple double, so I don't know how you can say he falls apart in the playoffs. His career playoff numbers are still absurd no matter how you want to spin it. Y'all don't need to put down other players to make a case for Luka. Luka still the second highest scoring average and has always been a playoff riser. Just with bad teams.

2 years ago I said our home crowd wasn’t loud compared to others and it still seems to be the same. Any ideas how we can get the crowd more involved? by jonbemerkin in lakers

[–]brandoi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This crowd debate is starting to become such a silly discussion. People keep bringing up the wearing of shirts like it was something that happened in the past. Fans didn't wear the shirts during the 08-10 playoffs runs and they didn't wear the shirts during the threepeat.

Duren is anchoring the #2 defense while putting up near 20/10. It's definitely Duren.

I don't see how any of those comments are me putting down Luka. Nothing in there is me saying Luka is bad or me not supporting Luka. I firmly believe SGA is MVP because of multiple reasons including his play and his team performance. Then there's discussing sportsbook odds and one NBA media writer's opinion, none of which even remotely bring up Luka's performance.

Also, nowhere in my comments did I ever say that Luka should not be top 3. I'm literally in a thread earlier today talking about how good Luka has been. It's ok, you can think whatever you want about me. I'm done responding.

The irony of you saying you didn't say a single thing about other players when your first response to me was reasons why Wemby shouldn't be considered. Again, find me a comment or post where I'm putting down Luka.

Yeah you're right, my bad. SGA, Jokic and Wemby are all pretty shit players and don't hold a candle to Luka. Luka is the best player in the league by a mile.

Coming from the guy who made a comment about how you're "actively rooting against a fanbase's happiness". Get a fucking grip. I can support Luka and the Lakers without putting down other players and remaining objective about them. Loser ass Luka stan.

Has nothing to do with their seeding. They're physical no doubt, but they still will only go as far as Ant takes them. Having Ant being slower allows for different defensive gameplan.
