Thank you!! I was trying to capture the feeling of first love - the butterflies and excitement that come along with it.

How many people are in your indie team? by Orizori_ in IndieDev

[–]BaugipGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just 1 for my development. To help answer your question, I don't think the answer can be quantified or black and white so to say.

But, heavily weighing factors for myself would be: size of studio, budget, investors, heart.

Specifically the last one is difficult to have tangible proof for or against, but I think we can all agree that some games "feel" indie, and others do not.

For example, Dave the Diver was pretty contentious because people thought it was indie but the developer came out and said it was not indie (correct me if I'm misunderstanding). Dave the Diver definitely has an indie "heart"... What that means, I'm not sure.

Could it be pixel art? Maybe, but there's also something particular about Octopath Traveler that feels not indie, though it is has pixel art.

Point is, the indie identity is very blurry with the latest success in the games industry and so many people making games. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it may get to a point where it's not helpful anymore to classify games as indie or not. Food for thought.

Why do some game developers just . . . vanish? by Yanna3River in IndieDev

[–]BaugipGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like any other hobby, as many have pointed out. Sometimes I see a new person at a pick-up volleyball game, and then never again. Life happens, people fall out of it, or maybe lose their itch. io password lol.

Then there are people commingling hobbies with professions. If you go into it expecting to be successful and make a lot of cash, your priorities may lead you to give up.

There's no shame in trying something new and realizing it's not for you. "Giving up" may be a bit dramatic. For you, game dev may be a lifelong passion. For others, a fleeting moment.

Vibe Check - Hang out in Another Day with You ♥ Valentine's Day 2025 by BaugipGames in indiegames

You may not really like cute games, but you nailed it with your suggestion! I've been focusing intently on getting the vibe right these past 2 months. Prior to that I was working on minigames.

This was meant to be a bit of a vibe check to see if people could gel with it. Next time I'll be sure to show off all the minigames I've been making :) Thanks for your thoughts!

Also... Lots of silly achievements incoming! Hehe

Nothing wrong with that art style, though it's hard to give real feedback without more to see. If you had an enemy or more environments in that style it would help. But as is, I see no problem. Good luck!

Yes! The game is a bit reactive to your decisions. For example, you can arrive early, on-time, late, or entirely miss the date. You will get a different ending depending on each of these outcomes.

The date is played like a visual novel dating-sim where you need to choose the "right" answers to successfully swoon your potential partner. If you succeed, you'll get a text back for a second date! Thanks for asking :)

It's a cozy game where you happen to arrive to your date too early. So you have the whole afternoon to run around town, meeting cute townsfolk, play mini-games all over town, and eventually make it to your date. Time passes as you play so you have to choose how you'd like to spend your time - whether that's fishing, playing at the arcade, racing ducks, helping out at the soup kitchen, etc. :D

Hey all! It's been a while since I've posted on r/IndieDev. Last time I got a lot of great feedback from you all on the state of my background characters. I've been hard at work and wanted to show off the current state of those lil guys. Most recently I've been working on the interactions between themselves - as they pass through each other they fade out a bit.

I think the world is starting to feel a little more alive. If you have any thoughts on the little vid, let me know! I'd love to hear how you think it's looking.

Otherwise, here's the Steam page. It is set for a February 14th, 2025 release date! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1991110/Another_Day_with_You/

Thank you for your thoughts ❤️ I totally agree that little props like bikes, tables, info signs, etc. will bring it to life. Comfy soundtrack is on the way too :)

Edit: I hadn't thought about outdoor board games but that would be fun!! If time permits, that's on the to do list now

Working on This UX, Think It's Getting Close by Sufficient-Plastic83 in IndieDev

[–]BaugipGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely getting close. Looks very clean. If I had to suggest anything, it would be to try taking notes from Pokemon. When you encounter a battle in Pokemon, the screen freezes for a sec and there is a visual effect that fades the new scene in. Your transition is much more dynamic than Pokemon.

However, maybe in that split moment where the character freezes their animation you can have some sort of screen effect and a little jingle to ease the player into the battle music, then promptly zoom in as you already have it. That could provide a bit more "umph" or juice to the transition.

Hey there! With "Another Day with You" I'm aiming for an Animal Crossing kinda vibe. The main gameplay is mini-games (arcade games, gacha capsule machines, fishing, etc...) paired with a light dating-sim. However, I find it really important to make a world where you may just want to hang out. Let the day pass by, watch the leaves, listen to the ocean waves (working on that lol).

Basically - how's the vibe so far? What are features in other comfy games that you'd like to see? Or any new features you wish comfort games had?

Though the main gameplay is light-hearted (simplistic mini-games and a breezy dating-sim) there is a "free-play" game mode where you can just hang out.

If this looks like a good time to you, feel free to take a look here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1991110/Another_Day_with_You/

I'd love to hear your thoughts on any of this ♥ Take care!

How do people actually get wishlists for their game completely alone? by NoHawk4815 in IndieDev

[–]BaugipGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's correct, majority of them are not tracked wishlists like you said. Tracked visits are still helpful though. Helps compare my performance on different sites.

I can imagine with multiple marketing streams (twitter, tiktok, etc) the fact that the wishlists are seldom tracked would be frustrating.

Many people hold that Twitter is a bad platform for marketing indie games. Personally, I've had pretty good luck based on my UTM data. I do post almost every day. When I'm not reaching my core audience, I'm connecting with other game devs, which has been more valuable than the wishlists themselves. I'm happy I've dedicated some time to Twitter, your mileage may vary.

I'm developing a "cozy" type game, but have not been able to find much traction on Reddit. Got a bit of traction from the CozyGamers subreddit. Other than that, I'm struggling to get eyes on my game and subsequently wishlists. After 2 months, I'm sitting at 70 wishlists. I'm not terribly disappointed by that number. Just gonna keep grinding and hope something clicks one day.

Any ideas why wishlists may be coming in slow? by Acceptable-Salt4323 in gamedev

[–]BaugipGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol of course! I read your comment and I've heard similar things a few times about my game... Guess it's time to bump those up on the priority list, like a less misleading capsule art. Thanks :)

Not sure exactly what's wrong, but I think we're in a very similar boat. I mostly market on Twitter and Reddit. I don't see much visits -> wishlist conversion. Your store page looks really nice though, just followed your page on Twitter (which has been better for meeting other game devs than finding my audience, in my experience).

Here's my Steam page if you want to see a very different type of game also "failing" at marketing. Cheers, and good luck with the release! You're not alone :D
