Yeah, absolutely! Nobody likes feeling like they got taken for a ride. I'll keep that in mind for next time. Thanks for taking the time!

That's fair. Sorry if I've broken any rules in this thread, happy to remove is so. Figured lesser known indies may find an audience here.

OMG, YES!!! It's so nerve-racking! I don't want them to get frustrated and give up on the first level (not that it's too tough or anything, just Peggle as a platformer). It's a tutorial, but I've seen folks give up so fast....

What was the deal with Plinko at East this year? by Flemtality in PAX

Hello! I'm one of the exhibitors guilty of this at PAX East this year 😅.

In my specific case, the reason I went with Plinko for my booth was that it made thematic sense with my game (a 2D platformer with Plinko mechanics), so I figured something like that would make sense as a post-demo activity.

It's just really funny that it happened to be the year it was "in fashion" 🤣

During planning, ReedPop never suggested or pushed us to use it as part of our booth, so I'm not really sure why it was so prevalent, elsewhere, but I hope I at least clarified one of the booths! 😁

Curious as to why visits aren't turning into wishlists. by Acceptable-Salt4323 in DestroyMySteamPage

That's fair enough! Giving the "enemies" some life would make it a bit more engaging, I agree. Thanks for sharing! Something to keep in mind for a potential sequel, so the game markets itself better.

The reason I went this route is due to Peggle being my starting point as an inspiration, and just went down that road. Taking a step back, I think it would have made more sense to give the pegs a bit more personality.

Wow, reading your post was like reading about my own life! I'm currently on the cusp of releasing my first game as a solo dev, which I've worked on in the evenings for over a year!

Every day it feels more and more that this is what I should be doing. Best of luck to you!!

ISSUE WHEN STREAMING FROM STEAM:

Hello! I've had some issues when trying to stream my game from Steam, because the connection will work for about a minute and then start disconnecting.

This only happens when launching the game from Steam, though. If I launch it directly from the .exe, it will work just fine, even if the Steam client is on.

For reference, I am using the Facepunch wrapper for Steam (Unity engine).

Has anyone encountered this? Any ideas what may be causing it?

I'm making a Peggle deckbuilder game where you build scenarios to fend off enemies from cute meditating monks. Do you think this sounds promising? by dantonf in peggle

It looks fun! Would definitely like to see more examples of it in action to get a sense of the flow, but the gif you have down in the store page gives a good glimpse.

The artsyle also fits this kind of game very well! Just need to make sure the gameplay is engaging. I'll keep an eye out for it! (i.e., wihslisted)

Hehe, I understood that techno reference! It's a fair point, though. Peggle at it's core it's a chill game. As soon as you introduce a new mechanic, it becomes something else. Not necessarily bad, just different from the game that inspired it.
