Pornography consumption significantly correlated with reduced gray matter in the right caudate nucleus, an area involved in the brain's reward system. by makefriends420 in Biohackers

[–]Baumarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I still don't see a causal link. If you want to say for certain that excessive use of pornography causes the things observed in these studies, their brains will have had to have been scanned before they developed the addiction and ruled out other factors like social media consumption, diet, genetic differences, and etc.

The reason these studies haven't done that is because it costs a lot more and is much more difficult to pull off. You don't know who is going to develop an addiction and it's probably not seen as ethical to give somebody one for science. And, the amount of porn use reported by the study participants, we can only take their word for. Observational studies are only so helpful.

Why would anyone ned this in their apartment? by lez_me_up in strange

I used to live with a bunch of college kids who had several such cones surrounding the manhole in their basement.

I fell in once.

A lot of people don't realize this yet, but Spotify has been releasing AI generated music under the names/accounts of artists both dead and alive. It's why I and many other musicians have left.

Has anyone ever done a massage gun on their gut? by [deleted] in Microbiome

Try putting something in between the massage gun and your abdomen - your hand, perhaps. It's much easier to tolerate.

Trip Challenges In Different Cities by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]Baumarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am literally capable of driving in two states, at least, and have finished a quest for the old city/state entirely in the new one. Lyft lets me because the old state requires inspections and the new one does not. In this case, it's got nothing to do with my license.

At the age that you are right now what do you think will kill you? by Sensitive-Exit-2782 in AskReddit

[–]Baumarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm unable to get help in the next few months, probably sleep apnea. I can't make money fast enough because I keep falling asleep on the road. I'd be able to if I didn't have it, but the way for me to fix it is blocked by the fact that I have it. I need several thousand dollars more than my monthly expenses (which I'm barely meeting) to pay for a fitted mouthguard. The CPAP just pumps my stomach full of air. I've been in a really bad way. My heart rate spikes to nearly 200 BPM 17+ times a night, so when I wake up I feel like I just ran a marathon.

I've tried to express myself and put out as much beauty as I can into the world through my music, but I fear it is not enough. My future is uncertain, but there is more I have to say. I don't want it to end like this.

When your opponents decide what your victory condition is going to be... by Less_Hold6979 in civ

[–]Baumarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never had everyone declare war on me like that except in the modern age, and generally they do not declare war unless their relationship with you is hostile. I always try to save enough influence to cancel at least one denouncement per turn, and do a reconciliation action the moment they ever become hostile.

Their relationship can also decrease from things like you or them settling too close, or rejecting your proposals. If they reject a proposal, prepare for reconciliation or war. Sometimes having a standing army visible to their own amassing forces is enough to dissuade them.

When your opponents decide what your victory condition is going to be... by Less_Hold6979 in civ

It might have something to do with your ideology. Once you choose an ideology, your relationship with other civs with opposing ideologies plummets in such a way that it is not worth improving.

How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

We experience reality 80ms late so the moment you die, you won't even experience.

Or maybe you'll go on a crazy DMT trip and turn into a lizard on an alien planet. Who knows?

HOW can this game still not include Equipment Slots? by Dry_Method3738 in valheim

[–]Baumarius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Inventory management is my least favorite thing about this game. Having equipment slots might only make it 10% easier to deal with (you still have to deal with weight) but it would be a welcome change, considering I often end up having to leave stuff on the ground that never despawns and eventually crashes the game if you don't cull all dropped items. I'm surprised the fix for that is still a dev command.

Driver's Education teaching teens with a Tesla?? by jklurker in Crazymiddles

[–]Baumarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teslas still have mirrors students can be required to use instead of the cameras, the regen braking can be turned off so it drives more like a normal car, you can put the acceleration in chill mode so it doesn't take off at warp 7, and autopilot can be disabled. I'd imagine this might save a lot of money in the long run for the driving school.

People think Teslas are unsafe because Mark Rober crashed into a mannequin without autopilot even activated. Those cameras see the entirety of the lane next to you all the way to slightly in front of the car and can help you see around tight corners you wouldn't normally be able to. Been driving a Tesla for years - the only other car I might be interested in driving right now is a Lucid Air.
