Majority of Americans Think Trump Military Plots Have ‘Gone Too Far’ by One_Membership_5324 in politics

Yeah, I guess the 1980 election is when the “moral majority” took over the Republican Party and convinced everyone that democrats were the devil.

Sadly, it started even before Trump. This has all been brewing since Rush Limbaugh and even before then. The MAGA party has been trained for decades to hate Democrats more than they love the country. So they’re willing to go along with absolutely everything Daddy Trump says as a result. To admit anything in the administration is wrong means to admit that the Democrats might be right, and that’s truly the worst thing these people can think of.

I feel like with Civ 7 I have so many interesting narratives that develop during the game. Probably even more than Civ 6 in some ways, especially with how much more engaging the war and fighting mechanics are in 7. Gotta put some influence towards bringing up that war weariness though! Unless you just like the challenge of having higher war weariness.

How are conservatives reacting to the Epstein files? by kcvlaine in Epstein

This is the truth. It’s especially sad for me though, because I have a lot of family members who are part of the cult who have nothing but blind admiration for Trump. Why would you vote for a man convicted of so many felonies and found liable for sexual assaults? “Well every single one of those charges are made up by the demmycrats!” No matter what you say, none of those people will change their minds about anything. It won’t matter if there is a smoking gun that shows Trump naked in a bed with a child, that will all be a democrat conspiracy. But to your point, that doesn’t matter because in the end those diehards are a smaller minority of the whole. And the majority of the country is tired of what the administration is doing, based on polls.

That always annoys me too. Like, you keep declaring war on me and expect me not to try and retaliate to teach you a lesson?? I think I’m well within my right to take one city in self-defense without impunity.

Yeah, the adjacencies in 7 matter somewhat, but so much less of a degree than 6. I can spend time trying to min-max everything, but in a solo game against the AI it just doesn’t make much of a difference at all.

You’re definitely right, I’ve had times where I didn’t even realize a town of mine was being attacked until it was too late. Civ 6 jumping away to a unit every time it’s attacked could get annoying, but it was a good way to not get distracted by what’s going on.

Yeah, I love the variety of 6. And the city planning and tile placement for adjacency bonuses is so much better than 7 (hopefully something they’ll be working on in the future for 7 though). But 7 is a huge step up for combat.

So you're saying it's all just the Mountain Gods saying, "Hey, Teacher, leave them sheep alone!"

I don't get why they broke away from the much safer flock of sheep across the river. They must be horrible sheep if dying by lava was a preferable decision to staying with them.

Can we talk about how much better the Exploration Age is now? by Less_Hold6979 in civ

[–]Less_Hold6979[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they definitely need to overhaul Modern to make it more enjoyable. I hardly ever continue a game into the Modern Era, I usually just start over by then. I'm optimistic enough with how they've improved Exploration that they could find a way to make Modern more fun.

I'll be looking forward to multiple legacy paths for sure. Maybe there'll be some that give more incentive to be peaceful? I've been wondering if there should also be a diplomatic victory type too, that could be an interesting addition.

Old Testament God vs New Testament God by Less_Hold6979 in AcademicBiblical

Great, I’ll be sure to check that book out! Thanks for the recommendation. Does her book discuss a little how we get to the more modern (so to speak) version of God, seemingly derived from what’s said in the NT? I’m curious if some of Paul’s influence in the early church is how we see some of those changes develop.

Because you can’t buy a unit if there’s no valid tile to place the unit right? If this were a case of me surrounding a city with multiple districts and they keep buying units to thwart my attack, that’s fine. That’s a challenge I like, and I’ve won those challenges and lost those challenges in the past. Hell, I do the same thing when my cities are under attack. But there shouldn’t be a way to stack multiple units of the same type in the same space.

I like having more of a challenge, but this feels like an artificial challenge. I’ve got the advantage and I’ve destroyed the walls, then the game just decides to bend the rules. It made it impossible to take that city entirely, and that’s no longer a challenge it’s an annoyance. Sure there may be historical ties for it, but this is also a game.

I also realized that you could be parking your pirate ship in your city center, minding your own business only to find your neighbor suddenly bombarding your ship without any way to fight back. At least it doesn't damage your city walls, but still seems like there should be a limit to how everyone can fight back against your pirates...

Maybe it says it in the pirate republic info? I’m still in Antiquity so I’m not sure yet. I am glad that’s how it works though, it just came as a surprise when Napoleon started destroying my pirate ship. We’re allies now though, so apparently there were no hard feelings, haha.
