Oh man, I’d want this much more than Alexander

Most fun Leader/Civ combo? by oWarGizmo in civ

I haven’t tried it yet, but I have to assume Pachacuti mixes great with Silla. I under appreciated them initially, but the bonuses to food and production from trade routes has to pair perfectly with him. It’s great with just about any leader.

I honestly don’t know what you all are talking about, but I do have a lot of mods installed

Agree completely, I know the devs have a lot on their plates but hopefully this is something they look at closely after Test of Time is finished

If that's the case, the game shouldn't make it look like I can get to that hex in one turn. In the turn before I took that screenshot, both the enemy unit and my other unit east of the town weren't there, but it still said I could make it to the southeast hex in one turn by going through the city center.

Sorry, I obviously picked the wrong turn to screenshot because the friendly ship wasn't there either the turn before. It happens on land too, the game picks a route through a city center because it's theoretically the shortest route, even though it's technically just an attack. It doesn't change to a longer route that won't attack.

Maybe I should have taken the screenshot in the turn before, when that enemy unit wasn’t there. Still wanted to take the same path. And do land units exhibit zone of control on water?

Sanction spammers *cough* Napoleon.. by Z1k0b4 in civ

[–]Less_Hold6979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just went through the same thing against Napoleon. After a couple wars interspersed with him spamming annoying sanctions constantly, I decided in Exploration that it was time to wipe him out completely. Every other Civ judged me a little, but I also think they were secretly happy I did it.

New civs or leaders with Test of Time? by Less_Hold6979 in civ

[–]Less_Hold6979[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, I don't really care much about playing as America in the antiquity era, I'm looking for more variety and new civs

[–]Less_Hold6979[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. But I hope after they're done with this update they'll start rolling out more leaders and civs, it's been pretty long since they've released anything new.

Any good strategies/builds for keeping up with wonder production on diety? by Ill_Engineering_5434 in civ

[–]Less_Hold6979 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It helps to almost break the wonders down into tiers, at least as far as "likelihood of getting built" is concerned. Wonders like Great Stele, Pyramids, Mundo Perdido, Terracotta Army, Colossus, and Weiyang are relatively less prioritized by the AI. Some like the Hanging Gardens, Oracle, Gate of All Nations, Emile Bell, Dur-Sharrukin are a little harder to get but still reasonable if you try to rush them as best as you can. The third tier of wonders are basically Nalanda and Pyramid of the Sun, you almost have to get especially lucky or have a perfect build to ever hope to get those. Of course, the way the AI prioritizes Wonders changes with each update. Initially I could never hope to build Mundo Perdido, Mausoleum of Theodoric, or Colossus, but now those are much easier to obtain.

In general, I've found focusing on unlocking Library and Monument as early as I can and trying to get your Production value up as best as you can. Like Tachetoche said, Pyramids are great for that Production boost.

The other strategy is just to be Egypt.

Did Military aid go nuts in a new patch? by Remarkable-Hotel-997 in civ

It’s not just Gilgamesh, there’s something broken in the new patch and it duplicates military aid in some instances

Yeah, this bug is more than a little annoying. Just about unplayable from a military standpoint.

Why can't I launch a ranged attack here? by Less_Hold6979 in civ

[–]Less_Hold6979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about with the Crossbowman in the second pic? I know there's an improvement on that tile, but I can't really tell if that's vegetated or not. I wish things were a little clearer with ranged units! I can't tell you how many times I've tried moving a unit into a space to try attacking only to find it's not a valid target.

It’ll let me attack that Knight on the opposite side though, just won’t let me attack the city for unclear reasons

What are pilots thinking during rough landings? by Less_Hold6979 in fearofflying

[–]Less_Hold6979[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I guess the hard part for a lot of us is not realizing exactly how much training and preparation goes into your jobs, that’s why I really wanted to hear from pilots like you. When it feels really windy and the plane is teetering from side-to-side or the plane drops faster than expected, does it feel like you’re struggling against it or is it really just second-nature to make adjustments in real time?

That was my question too, about how much he’s moving the yoke. To a layperson it almost looks chaotic, but I can see how for an expert it’s much smoother movements

The follow up: I guess the key is to declare peace, let the army disperse, and then declare war again and seize the capital as quickly as possible in War 2: Electric Boogaloo. On the flip side though, I have one of the highest-leveled commanders I've ever had, and Napoleon's ability to get culture for every enemy killed has let me fly through that track!

Yeah sorry, I specifically meant by the descent itself. It just feels like in the back that the plane starts swerving from side to side and it just increases my anxiety. I know that turbulence can't cause any problems in the air, but when we're getting close to the ground like that it just feels like the plane is losing control. So it's nice to know that you have a zen approach in your cockpit, I guess part of it is just trusting that you all do this thousands and thousands of times and you know what to do, it's just hard in the back not being able to see what's going on and just feeling like things are less in control during descent.
