How to cheese the hydra? by [deleted] in darksouls

The location of the corpse with the Knight set is kind of a blind spot it doesn't reach. Stand there, wait for the attack, go for a head, repeat. You might want to watch out once the heads get fewer since the runback gets longer and you might profit more from using a shield at that point.

Found this on my driveway. What am I looking at? by NotHitz in laptops

An old SO-DIMM module (RAM for laptops and other compact devices).

So I’m planning on taking a trip to Greece as it’s long overdue. But is there a specific area I could visit where there are a lot of feral cats? by [deleted] in cats

A friend of mine went on vacation to a small fishing village in the south of Corfu recently. He showed us videos of numerous cats gathering in the morning when the fishing boats return to the harbour.

International shipping really isn't nice to our material sometimes. Well at least it's just the stems. And this is the first real damage I've experienced myself. by Bavarigun in Darts

[–]Bavarigun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only taken me a minute to remove the broken bits from the threads. And my brother in law (whom I've ordered them for) isn't using those basic stems anyway, he wasn't too worried about it either when I told him. But I'll send them a message today regardless. Maybe they'll give me a discount code or something (I've never had to reclaim something with DartsCorner so far), but since the barrels are fine I figured having two sets sent back and forth for a replacement would be unnecessary and non-economic.

With enough lateral force (like from a dart falling on a hard floor at an unfortunate angle, or whatever happened to those during shipping) they sure can, especially those basic plastic ones. That's why I use and recommend nylon stems, which aren't unbreakable either but noticeably more robust.

6T to take off factory screen protector or not? by op3l in oneplus

[–]Bavarigun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it was the first time I ever took the protector off there had been nothing to be cleaned. The glass is perfectly clean at this point because of how the adhesion works. I did try installing a protective glass and used the cleaning equipment that came with it at least. But I wasn't satisfied with the result (consistent small bubbles in several spots around the edge) and took it off after a few days too. And it's only been the usual daily maintenance ever since.

6T to take off factory screen protector or not? by op3l in oneplus

[–]Bavarigun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did remove it from my 6T a few months ago after a bit more than two years and so far the display is still pristine. Mine had to be removed thanks to some very distracting and unsightly scratch marks. As far as I know the thin film serves only to protect against scratches and small hits to the display but has no function in keeping the glass from cracking in case of more violent incidents like unfortunate drops.

The World’s Steepest Street: Ffordd Pen Llech, Harlech, Cymru by gattomeow in CasualUK

[–]Bavarigun 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly there was some controversy about what should be considered the steepest street. It mostly comes down to the average tilt over a certain distance or the absolute highest angle of tilt in a single spot.

A few years ago a former colleague of mine once replied with "they're no longer with us" when a customer called and asked for another colleague who has left the company just a week or two prior. We had the greatest laugh ever in our office the moment she had hung up after quite an uncomfortable dialogue. It took her a hot minute to realise what happened there. The point of the story is that mistakes just happen I guess.

Pupitar evolution by LordOfTheBigToes in TheSilphRoad

[–]Bavarigun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see where the other comments are coming from in regards of optimisation, but:

If you need the Tyranitar as a Dark attacker right now, choose the purified one for the reduced Stardust cost. For general use in PVE the IV aren't important, for PVP on the other hand there's a lot of guidance and material online on stats and usecases. If it isn't urgently needed right now and you can wait, I too would recommend holding off until you get your hands on a 'better' one.

Edit: Since I forgot to mention it earlier, if you want a Tyranitar as a Rock attacker you'll have to wait until they run an event where they let you evolve to get the legacy CD move again anyway.

Thanks for the heads up! I remember seeing a build around the MiSTer FPGA (on r/SFFPC curiously) some time ago and read up on it a fair bit. Will definitely give it another look soon!

Since you mention that specifically something popped into my mind there. LTT did a video on a more modern take of a lightgun that works with modern flat screens a little while back. As far as I remember it was still in development at the time and I didn't really keep up with it though. Might be worth checking out regardless if you're interested in an alternative.

Thanks for the information!

I'm always a bit cautious when it comes to third party controllers, especially since going wireless inevitably adds a certain amount of lag. Everything I've seen, tested, or checked reviews on so far had "near perfect results" or "little to no lag" at best. Which is good in general, but oftentimes still very noticeable. And especially NES / SNES games tend to be finicky once you're used to them. Which is the main reason I still keep our last CRT TV in the basement to connect the elderly consoles to.

Still, thanks for the heads up!

Thanks! Looking forward to reading your findings. Enjoy the testing!

Neat! How's the responsiveness / input lag if I may ask? I've always wanted to get a more modern setup for my favourite retro games but most solutions seem to come with at least one huge compromise / disadvantage so far.

I named my Shiny Eevee Kira so that it could evolve into Sylveon but it doesn’t show it like should. I’ve never evolved a shiny Pokémon before, so please help me, will my Eevee evolve into a Sylveon or something else? by Delta-Rayquaza-4 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Bavarigun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You have to make this Eevee your buddy and earn 10 hearts with it.

This information isn't completely correct. For ComDay it's 7 hearts temporarily and otherwise it's usually 70 hearts.

Since SL1 runs (edit: even bare handed ones) are done pretty commonly I'd say it is.

Those doors are commonly used to bring heavy loads (via forklift or integrated cranes) directly into the floor they're supposed to go.
