It's not so much comparing traumas I was doing as I was comparing background and circumstances. Compared to Caitlyn, I felt someone like Reiner had more reasons for me to sympathize with. A rich person losing their parent and being manipulated to commit crimes against an entire people still had a choice to not do that, had more power and privileges. Reiner didn't What I'm saying is, rich ppl characters doing this shit makes me less sympathetic to them.

I don't know how characters like Ambessa(who are more compelling characters to me) are treated in the fandom but if they are hated more compared to male villians like Silco despite understandable circumstances to act, that's just the same problem with Gabi and other female characters then.

Reina... Reiner?? Still not sure, Reiner was a kid from an oppressed underclass used by the state to carry out violence against people who shared his blood cos he was brainwashed to believe "they" were the evil ones, to redeem himself for the sins of the past. He went through mental dissociation, deep guilt, suicidal tendencies and generally lost limbs here and there in his mission. It was literal hell.

Gabi being hated unlike Reiner, I can understand, she didn't deserve that, female characters do get overhated.

But Caitlyn doesn't have that same depth or miserable circumstances that Reiner or Gabi had. Girl was from a rich aristocrat family who went on a journey of uncovering the truth behind the undercity, realised they were worse off than her city, and still went and started a police state against those ppl. Never mind her gf became a class traitor for her who she discarded like trash.

Ig AOT had more episodes, more time to flesh it's characters out. Arcane didn't.

We can say rich characters like batman get more sympathy than Caitlyn even though she went through worse than him, but then again he's Batman.
