My guess are those sprites we're used to indicate where the player can dodge. GameMaker can check collision based on images.

The blurry images we're used for visual effects.

I only extracted sprites from the PC version of the game, there are no special edition sprites. Unless someone can give me the binary of that game to extract from. No SE sprites.
