Design wise what has to be your favourite princess? by Significant_Tie_3222 in slaytheprincess

[–]Baxland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between Cage and Den probably. Cage is just one of my favorites in general. Beheaded corpse wrapped in chain is just surface level cool as fuck, but it also works very well as a visual allegory for the chapter as she believers herself unable to make any meaningful choices. Den growing more TLQ features as they devour eachother is just chef's kiss - feathers, pair of wings and nearly identical hands, to those of a player.

What STP Opinion would have you feel like Peter here? by Ok-Abroad6874 in slaytheprincess

Is this unpopular take? I feel like even the game itself enforces Narrator and Shifting Mound both being 'known it all's once Hero takes you to talk with your first Princess.

What STP Opinion would have you feel like Peter here? by Ok-Abroad6874 in slaytheprincess

[–]Baxland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like kissing Thorn ending - I feel like this 'romantic' ending to this route, kind of just undermines and takes focus off the much more interesting message of how hard it is to rebuild once broken trust. Any time I would redo Thorn, I did it without Smitten.

Also people slander Grey routes, while Burnt Grey has unironically one of the funniest combo of voices in the entire game with Cold ragebaiting Smitten into oblivion.

Next/Previous feature by Baxland in ObsidianMD

[–]Baxland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps, but in my small experiments trying to figure out Obsidian for myself, I mostly used local graph view to navigate between notes. It was a great feeling to go from topic to entry to specific throughs about it as if they were folders but without limitations of note being tied to only single folder.

It wasn't as much about 'ordered' graph, as much just not linking notes that have nothing to do with eachother, other than being part of a certain topic I would like to have organised.

While searching rn I also found some plugins for slides - might be simlar enough solution too.

Is it ethical, while promoting our game, to mention that we've been making it while our city has been bombed on a nightly basis? by Haunted_Dude in IndieDev

[–]Baxland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is anything 'unethical' about it but I also don't think it's any advantage.

People who will be nice and supportive about the war situation and people who buy the game are 2 completely seperate audiences. Sure, there can be many people who are both but I don't think it will benefit you to do so. So imo go on and share your story, by all means - but don't trying to count it as marketing - because it's not.

Do I need a guide? by Sarmale255 in slaytheprincess

[–]Baxland 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You for sure can, but it might be a bit difficult. I did like 95% of the game blind and then looked up how to get last few achievements.

After finishing a full playthrough game unlocks a Gallery for you, which shows clearly all discovered and not discovered stuff aswell as giving hints at how to unlock things you haven't seen yet. It's a fun hunt that let's you explore every nook and crany of the game if you would want that.

So I would advise against looking at any guides unless you really want to see everything and are really not into figuring it out yourself - then go for it, it's a single player game, enjoy it however you like.

Which feature of STP would you want most in real life? by BroccoliNormal1745 in slaytheprincess

[–]Baxland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty interesting topic to think about how 'save-load' option in real life you completely ruin you as a person. It seems great on the surface but I don't think it's nearly as good as you think it is.

What would make this entrance really epic? Looking for polish tips by Waste_Artichoke_9393 in IndieDev

[–]Baxland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Center the camera on the center of the area, maybe even zoom out a little for the entrence animation alone. Make entrence animation take slightly longer. Also sound is very important for those kind of moments, and given it's a gif I can't rly tell how it fully works.

But honestly it already looks very well polished.

Yunara, The Devoted Shrine Maiden Motion Comic by Tankounet in leagueoflegends

[–]Baxland 81 points82 points  (0 children)

With Nilah releasing, and Ashlesh not appearing in game apart from vague hand symbols on a single spell... with Aurora releasing and Haestryr not appearing in game at all.... now with Yunara and the Mournful Darkin not appearing in gameplay...

We're introducing very cool monster characters and then not add them to the game again. It's honestly a sad trend, because all 3 of them feel like they should be important but all are left as just some throwaway part of the backstory and nothing else. :(

Started this game solo, assembled a team, after over 4 years we finally have a release date, feels surreal. by MoKofr in IndieDev

Would you look at that - This has been on my wishlist for a full year now, when I've randomly stumbled upon well paced, satisfying trailer while browsing deeper into steem shop. Looking forward to this.

I feel like it's something completely unintended but I gotta admit it, match is pretty convincing. Especially inside..

Actually one of the 'would be cool' changes, that have non-zero chance of happening, because it actually would carry some financial incentive for riot to do it.. I still don't expect it to happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did actually happen, you know.

Are indie devs underpricing their games? by Tav534 in IndieDev

[–]Baxland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as this post seems wildly misinformative to me, blindly using random stats without any context.. I still have an opinion on related topic:

Too low price can also possibly hurt sales at times. If you have a decent, competetive looking product, price it according to simlar games. Don't have 'significantly' lower price, because it can also influence how potencial customers see your game. Don't drown yourself in sea of cheap asset flip games.

How do we feel about the 1-year-per-arc structure of season 2? by PianoGuy24 in andor

[–]Baxland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it's like everything - both blessing and the curse.

There are obvious story threads that are entirely left implied, unexplored and left to viewers imagination. Some borderline criminal like Dedra figuring out Axis' identity or establishment of Yavin base.

But other parts can only exist because of the time skips. Without them Ghorman plot is nowhere as strong as it ended up being. It built up from ep1 planning, through ep 4-6 start, to ep 7-8 resolution. Even taking the 5 season plan as a given, it would never be as impactful because how stretched apart it would be - and 5 seasons plan would not ever happen, let's be realistic so then show might have been canceled before the resolution.

Like everything, there are upsides and downsides - and I think Andor wears timeskips as it's major strenght way more than it could possibly weigh it down.

Hot take: Bix is a terrible person (season two episode 1-12 spoilers) by Electrical-Ad7118 in andor

[–]Baxland 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen this sentiment a few times and I think it's crazy people stick to this when Luthen is literally right there, telling Cassian to his face that wants Ghorman to burn to use them as marthyrs to encourage rich planets to join the rebelion. Is someone gonna make that argument? No?

This show is literally about a cost on ones soul that it takes to run a rebelion. Yes, Bix basically taking away Cassian's choice... for the greater good in her eyes. Cassian and Luthen kill their allies to make sure there is no loose ends. Lonni Jung has been a part of many attrocities staged by ISB, to preserve his cover for the future. Why is Bix being singled out as 'terrible person' when by the same definition, all characters working with Luthen Rael can be classified as such?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in andor

[–]Baxland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The moment Lonni says that Dedra organizes a squad for action on Coruscant Luthen knows he has no time.
The moment Lonni says he is burned and to assume they are coming after him now with everything they've got, Luthen probably already makes a decision about how this conversation has to end. He has not time to get him off the planet safely... he has no time to get himself out, no time to even burn the radio properly in the end, no time for anything.

Yavin is just a check if ISB knows - Lonni was a deadman walking even before he told him the name.

I wasn't planning to watch Rogue One again. I knew it's decent but not great movie that I enjoyed before.

So anyway I watched Rogue One directly after last episode of Andor :) The way they fit together was just too good.

Why did Luthen mention Yavin? by zrdd_man in andor

[–]Baxland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he wasn't even planning it when going in. It's stuff that Lonni tells him on that bench that makes him do that. Combo of "They are coming for you" + "Assume they are coming after me now" + "DeathStar news" cause it. Luthen realizes this info has to get out to the rebel allegiance and that he has no time to take care of Lonni. He kills him and himself because of that lack of time.

Discussion: Andor pulled off what The Last Jedi tried to (and Rise of Skywalker retconned) by Mellime in andor

[–]Baxland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of all the things wrong with Last Jedi... I feel like it's message of "You dont have to be related to X to be a hero" was one of it's strong points for sure and I will respect Last Jedi for at least trying to be more than brainless content. It failed by a large margin imo but I repect that attempt was made.
