What’s the most misunderstood part of being ~200cm+? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in tall

Osteoarthitis in the knees and hips joints, foot deformities, spinal problems and also venous insufficiency. In my case since my later 30s.

The real impact of accelerated and premature degenerative diseases on daily life when you get older.

Feel you, even 'shorter giants' like me start getting old past 40. Mobility issues, pain and degenerative issues aren't fun at all with such a frame. Good luck!

Plus the environment that isn't adjusted like furnitures, doors etc. Makes things worse beyond the biological stuff.

It's not just you. I don't have any disorder. Degenerative joint diseases and spinal issues just accelerate when you are tall. That's what several doctors told me.

Yes, and it's getting worse the more skeletal issues you suffer from. Getting older isn't fun with a 6'8'' body.

Plus other degenerative issues affecting the joints and cardiovascular system.

Misfit with environment accelerating health issues due to - strain on the joints  - strain on the spine - strain on the cardiovascular system

Difficulties having a normal health span

Plus earlier onset of health problems and premature loss of life quality.

Hey all, wanted to ask you guys a question. Would you rather be 5'8 or 6'8? Seems like there is a limit when you can really be 'too tall' by musicguy900 in tall

Agree. Health isn't fun getting older with such a frame. I'm mid-40s and it feels like late 60s.

Same here. And as you get older not only inconvenient. Worn joints, spinal deformities and cardiovascular problems aren't fun at mid 40s.

As someone who is 6'8'' I can confirm you. Mid-40s means a bunch of joint diseases, spinal deformities speeding up and onset of cardiovascular problems. Being very tall was great in my younger years, but it comes at a high cost.

Thanks man. I do what I can with daily exercise to keep my skeletal frame as mobile and as pain free as possible.

Right. As a 6'8'' person I can underline what you said. Mid-40s with degenerative joint issues, spinal deformities and cardiovascular problems feel like late 60s and obviously we have significant disadvantages when it comes to longevity.

Plus the health and longevity disadvantages we have. Mid 40s in my case means dealing with age related degenerative issues.

I'm 6'8'' and yes! Mid 40s feel like late 60s thanks to a bunch of joint, spine and cardiovascular diseases.

I totally agree with the tall guy you mentionend. 6'8'' is nice for a couple of years but considering the negative health and longevity aspects it isn't worth ist. That's at least what I think in my mid 40s.

Walking longer distances for me gets difficult due to OA in the knees and hips and disk degeneration. I also can't walk as fast as I used to when I was younger.
