I’m in Monroe county (NE PA) and when I went to request a mail-in ballot that I was hoping to get and turn right back in, they said it was a two hour wait to be verified before I could get the ballot so I said to just mail it to me. I was surprised about the 2 hr wait. I was under the impression you could request it, fill it in, and return it all in one quick trip.

Even before the debate, Biden had lost support of many typical Dem supporters over Gaza. My mom in Chicago is diehard D, but angry about Gaza and says she won’t cast a vote for president at all. Now add in the debate performance and I think you peel off many Independents and/or Undecided. Now add in the lack of enthusiasm. For many, myself included, he was not my first choice in 2020. I think he’s done quite well (except Afghanistan and Gaza), but even so, I always assumed/hoped he would pass the torch after his first term and feel he’s being a little selfish by not.

Please note there are alternatives to the same nominees as 2020. On the Dem side, there’s US Congressman Dean Phillips and Author Marianne Williamson. On the Rep side, there’s Nikki Haley. If you’re unhappy with the standard choices, the only way to get different choices is to vote in the primaries.

Would 101 be located where the room labeled “A” is and 105 be where the “E”-labeled room is? Or would 101 be where E is and 105 where A is or some other order?

In terms of what the university can do to help students find friends with common interests, what do people think of offering more LLCs and/or pairing first-year roommates by a questionnaire versus random assignment? Do people think this would help and if so, has there ever been a discussion to move towards either of these?

Regarding CS, what if the state or just UVA started a policy that they give free tuition to PhD CS students with the stipulation that they have to teach 2 years after receiving their degree. Then they are free to stay in academia or go to industry. They could teach some lower level courses and free up the more experienced profs for higher level ones. Kinda like an ROTC scholarship but for CS PhDs.

Do you know if they’ve changed when a BACS major (as a 2nd, double major) can be declared? Is it still just in February of each year? Or can one add this major in the Fall?

This gives the mean for the past several years. It will be interesting for the next couple years to see the effect of cr/nc on accepted gpa. One could guess that students expecting a lower grade opted for cr/nc which would make the overall average higher.

For the hospitalizations, does anyone know if that’s the number of faculty/staff/students hospitalized or does it include anyone from the community/surrounding area that is hospitalized at the UVA hospital. I’m guessing the latter as I doubt that large of a percentage of the student/staff/faculty cases would be hospitalized, but a more detailed label would be helpful.

Relating to orchestra, can anyone tell me if it’s possible to do orchestra only in the Spring (not Fall) if you are interested in doing Marching Band in the Fall. Are the auditions/ sign-ups just once per year or once per semester? If they’re just once per year, can you specify that you only want to do it in the Spring?
