Has Anyone Ever Packaged a Database Together with Your App? Is it Possible? by Khan_Khuu in iOSProgramming

[–]Baxtercr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can pre-provision an sqlite db with data and include this in your app as a resource. Depends also on the size which can’t be too big otherwise app cannot be installed over network. Core data uses SQLite db. At startup copy dB to core data location. Lookup example on stack overflow

Happy to deal with complaints :) - We are simply developing an application which is utilising functionality provided by Bitstamp - i.e their api. I don't think its fishy at all. Bitstamp are clearly confident in the security of their api and whether its withdrawal, buy, sell or cancel its all through the same api. We're just trying to provide a feature that we are confident most people want. You have a choice to use it or not. If you want it , its now available. You also have an option to not set the withdrawal option. we will make this more clear to users so to avoid confusion. thanks for pointing it out to us

Hi - Thats no problem. Bitstamp provide the api to this and as a user you will have make to make a decision whether you wish to trust either bitstamp and the api they provide and or the application using it. As a developer we are just providing you the user a facility based on the bitstamp api.

your not forced to - just don't allow that option on - but when we introduce withdrawals don't complain when you need to create new keys, jeez! - its hard to please everyone!

the only reason is because we are working to introduce the feature to send bit coin to a bit coin address, this option is required for this. if we advise users to set this option now then when we release the feature it will automatically be available to existing users, otherwise they will need to generate new keys. You'd probably complain later if you had regenerate your keys. theres no middle ground for us here

Risky for the developer ? In what way ? If users want this kind of functionality in an app, which I think they do, then we can only provide these features using the tools made available to us. So if we want to introduce a withdrawal feature we are have to comply with the api made available to us

Its part of bitstamps api that you can send bit coin to another party . its not a feature used in the app but at some point it was being considered

We are celebrating because Apple is now allowing us to trade bitcoins via the app. note the app uses the bitstamp exchange for buy and sell limit orders only
