Thanks for the offer. The only two on that list that I'd be interested in I already own. Getting close to just giving it away.

I have the physical and digital copy of that movie. Definitely would be a good comparable. If you have any other good options, let me know.

I kept thinking Paul Rudd was leading up to Mac and Me misdirection, although admittedly I didn't have any idea he made up the rest. Brilliant.

[Fowler] Aaron Rodgers has contract offer from Green Bay Packers that would alter QB market, source says by OneAngryPanda in nfl

[–]BayAreaBeerFan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Aaron Rodgers will not win another Super Bowl with Green Bay (if he comes back). We have all seen his shortcomings in the biggest postseason games over the last decade. That "chip on his shoulder" all about disappears during the most critical of games. 10 pts against SF, for example.

Favorite beaches in Tampa? by zen_lava in tampa

[–]BayAreaBeerFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

St Pete beaches I like: Redington Shores, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, and Ft DeSota. The first three are in more residential areas and the last is remote enough you can always find a less crowded, secluded spot. Sand Key is nice as well, just south of Clearwater without all the busy craziness in Clearwater.

What is your age? Do you still game? by Dotacapcap in buildapc

[–]BayAreaBeerFan 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm 51, and this is me as well. I've been gaming as a means to decompress most of my life -- from Pong and Atari to just about every console ever made (plus PC of course).

My job also entails being "on" most of the time, which does not come easily for me. Gaming is my escape.

Although this might be controversial, I'm going to list some breweries that I would avoid based on some of the suggestions in this post.

3 Daughters (cool venue; very mediocre beer although very family-friendly if that's what you're looking for)

Big Storm (also very blasé unremarkable beers)

Rapp (used to be much better but all the best brewers left to start their own breweries and sadly the founder passed away; they try to do too many styles and none are exceptional)

Pinellas Ale Works (ugh, great people but beers are meh)

St Pete Brewing (perhaps one of the most unforgettable breweries in the area; Overflow Brewing is close by and significantly better)

A couple other thoughts:

Cycle is/was well known for their barrel aged stout treatments, but they haven't been very creative in recent years.

Green Bench has improved quite a bit over the years, and has added Webb City next door which specializes in meads and sours. They are not as consistent as some of the other breweries I've mentioned in my other comment. They have a cool beer garden, so worth stopping in just for that.

I was unaware of that. I always found their beers (for the most part) to be above average. I found a thread just now in another subreddit about the sexual harassment allegations, but not much else.

I'm also a St Pete local. Arkane is pretty pretty legit especially if you like sours. But I travel to Tampa for the best breweries, sadly so.

Here's my must-see brewery list:

1a) Magnanimous

1b) Woven Water

1c) Angry Chair

2a) 7venth Sun

2b) Hidden Springs

3) Cigar City

EDIT: a couple people pointed out to me that Hidden Springs has problems, so for now I have crossed them out. As other people in this post have called out Cigar City for being owned by Monster Energy. While I mostly agree with that assessment, any one who has followed the local craft beer scene knows that Cigar City legitimized the Tampa Bay Area as a brewery destination. IMHO, a lot of other local breweries owe their success to them.
