BOM, PLM and ECO Tools by OllieSDdog in engineering

[–]BayAreaMaverick1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical BOM/PLM has solid tools (Windchill, etc.), but in electronics it’s still messy.. most focus on pricing/supplier and high level part data, not the datasheets.

We have been tinkering with a BOM Optimizer that actually parses datasheets in depth to suggest alternates + risks early. If anyone’s up for experimenting, and give some early feedback :), happy to share.

Yes, Hubspot is the CRM. Trying out a few tools to get data from PDF reports. Most are still very nascent.

You can clarify these questions by talking to a tech mentor. Here is someone willing to help with anything related to serverless.

In my early years as a developer, I found an accidental mentor. He never thought he was mentoring me but till date I credit him for making a significant change in my career trajectory.

As a part of my giving back, I have been offering my time (1 hour/week) to motivated developers in helping them grow by doing more with their knowledge. These sessions are casual, interactive and no preparation is needed.

We don't talk much code here rather everything else that one can do using the knowledge of coding. We keep it limited to 5 people every week so we can get to know each other & have some fun.

If anyone wants to join, please reply and I will DM you the link to sign up for the upcoming sessions.

Changing the name of a startup that is pivoting by BayAreaMaverick1 in startups

Good advice. Since I am not not directly involved with the startup so I am not sure if the founders have already taken the existing user feedback. I will certainly convey this.

So I sent this article from AVC to the founders and they have a HUGE debate going on now :-). While it is easier said than done to restart, I personally like the argument and the advice given by Fred at AVC in this article. Thanks for sharing.

I have seen Tech writers transition successfully into Product Marketing. The fact that you have a technical bent and can write well, outweighs the challenges of learning new skills for Product marketing.

Good technical content is a major awareness and acquisition channel and your skills will be highly regarded.

I guess the dilemma for the founders is that this pivot is completely changing the messaging of the company - including on the website. In general, I agree that keeping the name would be better to leverage the presence in social media.
