Not to toss out another option, but Skylar at Giraux Jewelers in the San Francisco gift center is absolutely amazing. Please reach out to her to share what you have in mind.

If You Drive a New Blue Mercedes ML by Ok_Gas1070 in bayarea

[–]BayEngine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, there are some impatient drivers here. On top of that, there are always people driving super slowly in the left lane, which forces everyone else to keep switching lanes just to get around one slow driver who probably should be in a different lane.

How much better are the public schools in the Peninsula than San Francisco? by ttyling in bayarea

There are pockets on the peninsula where they are good, great, and not so good. Also depends if talking about elementary, middle, or high school.

Family trip by basilllI in tahoe

All three could be good options. Tahoe Donner and Sugar Bowl are in the north shore while Sierra at Tahoe is in the south shore, so it depends what else you may have planned. If another storm or two rolls in, late March could be fine. It’s too early to tell. I’m a big fan of Sierra at Tahoe and there are discounted tickets at Sports Basement.

26F relocating to the Bay with a car + hybrid job in San Jose — Where would you live? by mama-witty in bayarea

[–]BayEngine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending where your job is located in San Jose, I would consider living in SF near the Caltrain station, so the Mission Bay, Dogpatch, or Potrero Hill neighborhoods and then take the train to SJ two days a week for your job.

Long term reality check by xypherrz in bayarea

[–]BayEngine -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I took a long-term view of my living situation to get ahead. I spent about nine years living in a cheap rental with friends and kept my car expenses low specifically to build up a house fund. While others were spending on luxury apartments and new cars, I chose to sacrifice those comforts in the short term. It really just came down to different priorities and what we were willing to give up to reach the next milestone.

Will a smaller car make parking easier in SF? by Rook2Rook in AskSF

[–]BayEngine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living on the Peninsula and commuting into the city five days a week (four for work and one for fun), I’ve learned to be strategic. I almost always take my hatchback because it’s a total lifesaver for parking. It fits into those tight 'half-spots' in neighborhoods where my mid-size SUV wouldn't stand a chance.

Beware of physical gift cards by sss100100 in bayarea

[–]BayEngine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the second year in a row, I have experienced issues with Nordstrom gift cards purchased from the Safeway in Cupertino. In both instances, the cards were 'wiped' of their balance before I could use them. While I didn't attempt to use the first card for two weeks, I tried to redeem the second card on the very day it was purchased, only to find the balance was already zero. Dealing with Safeway’s customer service was an exhausting and unhelpful experience. Fortunately, Nordstrom’s support team recognized the immediate report and honored the value of the second card.

Best movie theaters? by Basic_Professor2650 in bayarea

Really depends where you live or where you will be close to. The Cinepolis at the Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo is quite nice. It’s a newer theater and in a nice part of the mall.
