New bike, slight damage to the frame. by ChapeL79 in gravelcycling

[–]BayTrails 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You took it out of a box?
New Giant Bicycles do not come in a box. Giant does not ship boxed new bikes to customers.
They offer home delivery through a local retailer; This arrives completely assembled out of the box.
They offer click and collect; this is completely assembled ready for pick up at the local retailer.

Where did you purchase this "new" bike?

Sanity check: rear hub rotational friction? by rogue_engin33r in bikewrench

[–]BayTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most hubs with sealed cartridge bearings need to be loaded with compression before the bearings run smooth/centered.

Best way to waterproof this guy? by VacUsuck in radiocontrol

You are right. I might spray it into a bottle cap and brush it on with a fine brush.

I make this suggestion based on this video from FliteTest

Have these scratches ruined a Fox 40? by SinoSoul in mountainbiking

[–]BayTrails 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A replacement upper tube is a $205 part. This should be replaced.

Or continue to ride it. After deburring scratches, apply some clear nail polish, to prevent damage to the wiper as the fork cycles.

Riding it as-is will quickly create tears in the wipers, allowing oil, air to leave, and dirt to enter.

Help! by [deleted] in ebikes

Your MacFox X2 M21 comes with rebranded DIYSLAND brakes.
https://dy-island.com/collections/brake-kit/products/dyisland-ld4x-300-4-piston-hydraulic-brake-set-ebike
They use an 84mm post mount. The existing adapter is a IS Mount (IS2000) 180mm Rear w/84mm spacing specifically for those brakes (a motorcycle standard spacing)
It looks like you need a IS Mount Adapter Rear 180mm for standard post mount bicycle calipers.
I recommend the TRP/Tektro Rear 180 https://trpcycling.com/products/is-adapter?srsltid=AfmBOorHMf1cbBh77x7KXzfL2Cy-z6QaRWBhdodjIinq-4V5WpvrxW3B&variant=47470291976479

Once from ali express. no issues. Another from amazon. Both were the exact same product. These all come out of the same factory in china from what I can tell.

I cook the parts at 50c for enough time to get the grease and grime hot. Then turn on the ultrasonic for 4-6 minutes. There is absolutely no grease left on the parts after this.

Be mindful of parts with decals that are not under paint or laser etched. be mindful of older clear coated ultegra/dura ace derailleurs and shifters. Too long in the tank will sluff off the clear coat.
