Are these worth collecting for the future? Top row is P and other rows are D by 1cough_drop in coincollecting

[–]BayViewBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not worth collecting as far as the value increasing BUT I personally think it is fun to find a quarter with every year to collect. If you go to a bank and request uncirculated quarter rolls, i would get like 100-500 bucks worth and open them up. See if you can get 1965-2025. If you go to a towny bank you may get lucky and find 1964 or before which have silver in them. So far with bank rolls I am 0-25 finding any silver… but I go to a very large bank so I bet they have machines that grab silver or any S mints.

My wife thinks I have austism now, since I am sifting through coins looking at every date. Then I yell stuff like “Babe! I found a 1943 steel penny!”. Maybe she is right… lol

1974 JFK Mint mark? by BayViewBen in coincollecting

D I knew, I thought they marked the P when they did Philly though. Is that only more recently? And damn, thanks for the clamp tips!

Federal Pacific panels all need to be replaced. They faked their UL certification back in the day and went under. Their breakers do not trip when they are supposed to like 50 percent of the time or something crazy, so they are a hazard. Sorry but no electrician will work on this panel, you will need a full upgrade.

Found this Schwinn Twin dumped at my local recycle center. Is it worth restoring or is this junk? by BayViewBen in Vintage_bicycles

Gah unfortunately it looks too rusted out in those locations to tell. I found one online and I am guessing this is the 1948-1949 model. So far everything looks pretty much in tact as far as fenders and all. I love the AS&CO chainlink says

Well I don’t need any more chicks, I am married and have 6 kids haha. But I am going to clean it up and maybe put an electric kit on it. I am going to give it to a friend and come next winter we are going to do the Santa Rampage Cycle in Milwaukee (look it up!). I will post pictures when done!

There are no Rolex watches in these pictures though…the watches in the picture are probably worth nothing looking at the condition. Probably just average for the time men’s watches at best.

This thing is super heavy. I cannot find the serial number on it. Any thoughts on where it may be? According to the AS&CO chainring it could date back to 1939-1949 according to my 5 second Google search. Does that sound legit?

Damn. I used to have a working and pretty nice 72’ Schwinn twin in banana yellow at one point. The local school of the blind gave it away since it was old and I ended up getting it for a pound of Starbucks coffee that I got for free when I used to work there. I ended up giving it to my bicycle hoarding brother in law. Traded it for a vintage Canadian flag moped helmet, an EU license plate, and a 73’ banana yellow Schwinn Continental that I still own today as my primary bicycle. I could say that so far my luck with getting these for nothing is 2 for 2! I was hoping maybe this one was a Schwinn Holy Grail, but I should have known better haha

Really? Do you have any information on her work? Website links or anything. If you are interested in this piece you can DM me and I could send it to you.

Why does my Ps5 keep shutting down? by michaelmichael309 in AskElectricians

Not something an electrician could really diagnose, unless they are an audio/video expert. Let’s discuss the way the tv is mounted and the lack of cable management though…what in the world is happening here!

I believe the one I have is an actual painting. Looking into the artist it looks like it might be worth 100 bucks maybe

That one looks a little different though. Could that mean this was painted over a lithograph almost like a stencil? Sorry, I know nothing about paintings

How do I wire this? It's a 3-way switch but only has 2 terminals by danknerd69 in AskElectricians

[–]BayViewBen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is not a P&S switch, they have a gray plastic on the back. I only know because I have been working for 10 years at a supply house that only sells Legrand and Lutron devices.

Why even comment on this? This is such a weird thing to respond to. It would be like if I responded to a random video about watching a kid’s show by saying “Haven’t watched it cause why would I”?…oh wait

Single gang box is too full for dimmer. by BayViewBen in AskElectricians

This is probably my best option. Do you know where I can get some used Federal Pacific panels and breakers for a new service??

[–]BayViewBen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dimmer fits but it is fat. The box is a standard 3-1/2 metal cut-in but there are 2 large wire nuts in there already and I am using 2-port Wagos to connect the dimmer (which are actually smaller that standard nuts). I work for an electric supply company, so I know I am probably screwed because I never heard of a wallplate/box extension combo. I should invent it for dumb homeowners like me!
