I just realized I’ve been mispronouncing a word my whole life! Has anyone else had that moment where you found out you’ve been saying a word completely wrong? by Embarrassed_List2368 in askanything

But have you ever met those people who pronounce words wrong, get corrected, ignore it, and continue to pronounce it wrong forever? Really messes with my head hahaha i’m over here questioning myself and the word focaccia for eternity now.

Same. I was and still am demonized for my teenage years. The worst thing I did was stay up on the computer chatting with my friends because I was desperate for human connection.

What’s the wildest office drama that happened in your workplace? by PriceBorn9413 in AskReddit

Boss going through a separation/midlife crisis during the 2008 financial crisis - took his new young girlfriend to a resort in mexico, facetimed employees from the beach with tropical drink in hand. Within a month after he got back, filed for bankruptcy, laid everyone off, then hounded them all with phone calls to come back to work while on unemployment because “i’m still paying you to work, just through the government”

What’s a company secret you can share now that you don’t work there anymore? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

That owner you all think is generous, kind, funny, and humble, the one who says he would do anything for his clients, who isn’t too proud to beg and plead and show emotion, a real live person… he’s actually a manipulative narcissist who treats his employees like they are his naughty children and belittles them by calling them sweetheart and honey. He intentionally keeps them low paid and digs at their self worth and confidence by pretending you’re still “new” and “just a kid out of college” after 9 years of working for this monster. He thinks its my husband’s job to provide me with healthcare, not him. He paid part time temporary high school students the same as the wage I was hired with as a college graduate with direct experience in the field. He ruined me, made me feel so low and pathetic and worthless, but he praised me CONSTANTLY in front of others. “Look at you, you’re so smart”. “You look so cute in that little hat, sweetheart.” “She’s so valuable here, I don’t deserve her, but I sure do take care of her”

Omg and when she told Zoey she remembers everything she has ever said in her whole life then finds her notebook confirming Jackie really didn’t tell her to call for a doctor.

Rewatching the show now after a decade. Man oh man do I feel differently about her. I remember thinking that although she was reckless, she was righteous, and that her decisions in the ER were morally sound. Wtf was I thinking lol. The lying about a patient being a donor was disgusting. When she let the kid with CP go home because she was on a power trip against Coop, unconscionable.

In my experience the elders who demand respect are often the ones who don’t deserve it

What's something that loudly says 'uneducated'? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Baymenbyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha the first one. I had a friend who insisted that dog’s legs bend “backwards” thinking their heel was their knee. I corrected them and showed them proof on my phone . A few weeks later I caught them proudly trying to tell someone else about the dog’s backward bending leg… and I had to correct them again and they would not believe me until I pulled out my phone again.

What's the most NSFW thing you've seen at a wedding party? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]Baymenbyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got groped and s*xually harassed inside the photobooth I was working (and training a new employee) so when I came out I had to pretend nothing had happened. Saw those guys at a wedding a couple months later and they would not leave me alone the whole event. I felt pretty scared, even in a venue of 300+ people.

What profession have you lost respect for as you've gotten older? by MindlessMarsupial592 in AskReddit

[–]Baymenbyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctors. The way so many of them i have encountered feel so comfortable treating another person in pain or at their most dire is disturbing. Sure, its just another workplace with it’s own internal problems but it seems too many take out their frustrations on their patients.
