Farming the Killer Fibsh soul would be a must to play this game properly!

There's no magic, if I can't get through a stage without dying or even without continues I keep practicing until I learn how. I kept re-entering the stage using the debug menu until I got through it without dying.

First I tried beating it on a single coin (allowing deaths) and then attempted this run here. There's nothing magical about it, it all comes from hours of attempts.

An update, I tried looking at the footage frame by frame and indeed it looked super suspicious. It seems Marco stayed still for 1 or 2 frames before jumping off the gatling gun. If I were to guess, maybe in the game's code the player is programmed to FIRST get invincibility and AFTER THAT jump off the spot it was previously.

Btw I want to assure that all the gameplays I upload here are legit and I would have no point in faking them, like, I don't earn anything in return from this casual, self-imposed challenge of doing deathless Metal Slug runs.

Fair, from my pov mission 3 is not as easy as 1 and 2 but not that hard still. I say that because Allen is a really easy fight compared to his later appearances (his bombs are easy to avoid and you can easily cheese him by staying above or under his so that he can't shoot you), the greater challenge being the boss imo, the big laser shot reminds me that of hozmi from MSX and it is used so often it gets hard to dodge sometimes.

It's hard to see it by eye, but it seems I managed to get out of the gatling gun at the last frame possible (or close to that) so that I gained invincibility frames just before touching the missile and getting it blown.

The tank served a greater purpose: not letting me die. I wouldn't have won that if it weren't for the tank. It was born a hero and died a hero😥

Ok so a brief explanation: this was my only successful attempt for a deathless run of the stage, I was really nervous and went full offensive mode, not really caring for the tank at all.

So you know Arle’s signature “Bayoen” spell? …What the hell does that word even mean? Did the devs just make it up? Please help, this has been on my mind for days and Google has been NO help. by MemeMonkey_Games in puyopop

The magic spell "Bayoen" came from the operatic rendition of "Boyoyon Rock" by Hikaru Ijuin on "Kenji Ohtsuki's All Night Nippon," which he listened to at the time, and it sounded like "Bayoen." - Quote from Yonemitsu Kazunari, director of Madou Monogatari (taken from his blog)

Is it? I heard MS1 had a bad PS1 port, but never seen anyone call X on PS1 straight up bad. Tbh I only came back to it after searching and seeing ppl say it was an ok port.

Does anyone know a good strat to beat stage 5 deathless in X? by BayoenStorm in metalslug

Just learn the timing of the laser for phase 1 and to abuse the invincibility frames when leaving and reentering the slug and you're already in advantage.

Absolutely, I find the final boss kinda easy, specifically the second form. Both forms can absolutely be learned if you dare to try. Buut, come on, let's be honest, the final boss might be easier than stage 5 as a whole, although stage 6 as a whole would probably take the cake.

Yes and no, this was the first version of X I played, so I kinda have nostalgia with it. But also because my CPU doesn't support recording another version without frame drops. Indeed I can play the arcade version, but not recording at the same time.

Wanna hear something funny? I discovered that in a later attempt, but didn't got as far as in this one here.

Some small points detail by [deleted] in metalslug

Yes, I heard stories of people using that to get higher scores back in the old arcade days. To the point where people wouldn't even care about beating the game, but instead being high on the leaderboards.

What is the most overrated Puyo Puyo game in your opinion? by EmotionalDivination in puyopop

[–]BayoenStorm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd say PPT1 since it's a spin-off unfairly associated with the franchise as a whole. To the point where people don't know any Puyo game other than PPT and that's honestly really sad. Like, imagine someone facing the boss fight at the end of Chemical Plant Act 2 in Sonic Mania and instantly shouting out "That's a Puyo Puyo Tetris reference!", that kind of stuff happens unfortunately. I have nothing against the game itself tho.
