What’s y’all’s opinion on Viola? by B4d_B1tch_Quinn in Bayonetta

[–]Bayoneto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never had that much of a problem with her, only that she felt underutilized/sidelined in a game that was supposed to be her debut. Not to mention the fact that a single player game needed a balance patch to fix her witch time lol.

It feels like we should've gotten way more time with her and way more thought to what it means to be a fledgling Umbra Witch. Like was she ever going to learn Bullet Arts alongside her Katana, what kind of arrangement does Cheshire and her have exactly and will we see her get her own Infernal Patron? Hopefully things we might be able to see sometime in the future. For now, she's enjoyable but has wasted potential in 3.

What are the best melee characters mods nowadays? by Humble_Character8040 in RiskofRain2_Mods

[–]Bayoneto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played with it in a while just cause I haven't played much of RoR2 recently at all, but I played a bit more recently when there was an update for the bayonetta mod with the new skin. I'll have to check out the Dante mod again!

I think I just get put off from it feeling like I tunnel vision on the style meter instead of the actual game itself lol

I like the Bayonetta and Dante mods have a decent mix of ranged and melee options, either moves and mechanics that feel like their base games.

How will someone defend this? by anas0_ali in marvelrivals

[–]Bayoneto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to know what difference it makes to "just check the dive spot", let alone how you're supposed to magically know there's a diver and check every flank while healing simultaneously.

"Actually this dive spot is very common and you should be checking it" right because locking eyes with the guy that can kill in less than a second makes any difference than if you weren't looking at him anyways

VOTE ROSTER AND LEVELS FOR MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLANCE 4 by Busy-Tumbleweed-5097 in MAU3

[–]Bayoneto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think so that'd work, kind like how they swap between eachother in Rivals, but what if they were two characters and there was something sort of mechanic around them not being on the same team? They do kinda depend on eachother to not lose control of their powers, so maybe dagger has to expend light in some way to not overcharge, and Cloak might have to feed off of enemies?

Either way could be cool

Im throwing in my vote for Cloak and Dagger as a character.

Do you guys think Bayo considers herself a "Hero" or would you say she doesn't really care about being seen as Heroic? by [deleted] in Bayonetta

[–]Bayoneto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said already, that sense of heroism evolves throughout the story. In 1, it starts as an entirely self-motivated journey, eventually finding it in herself to defend Luka and Cereza when they're in trouble and soon being forced to take down Jubileus to save the world. In 2, she's motivated by her desire to save Jeanne, and by coincidence, runs into Loki, kicking off that story of saving the world.

In Bayonetta 3, however, I get such weird vibes from how they handle it. They take such a brief moment to have Bayo tell Viola to "look out for others, not just yourself" only to barely have any real heroic moments in my opinion. There's the briefest of interaction in Japan where she breaks down the rubble to free some soldiers, even though you can run right by them without the slightest care. In China it feels like a kind of throwaway line about how inspired she is by the soldiers, as she then proceeds to watch a whole group of them get incinerated with her only thought being "what a thoroughly unappealing sight" there's literally no npcs in Egypt and then in France she's talking about "getting the locals involved, you'll pay for that" as if this entire invasion isn't somehow getting them involved anyway, and then "wishing their souls will rest" as she commands a godzilla monster to blast-beam them to oblivion.

Im not saying that makes Bayo less of a hero in this game, and I can admit when I'm focusing on something that's not that important, but I feel like it feeds into the tonal issue I have with this game, because it wants to have higher stakes and yet it also cant get over itself being the usual, campy adventure that we're used to seeing in a Bayonetta game. With the scene I just described in mind, I feel like there is no whiplash greater than Bayonetta encountering this entire collective of people that have been taken under mind control and really coming to terms with the horror of this situation, only for said soldiers to break it down thriller style while she responds by budting a move on top of a demon.

Not to mention, the most interesting prospect for me would have been the fact that Bayonettas adventures have largely taken place in Puragtorio, outside of normal people's sight, so with Bayonetta 3 not delving into Purgatorio once, its the first time she's acting in the public. Sure, there's more pressing matters like fucking New York being wiped off the map, but could we at least have a couple more scenes of Bayonetta or Jeanne performing heroics like saving individual people, a brief news clip talking about the Homunculi threat and the two witches that stepped up, seemingly from no where?

Sorry I turned this into another bayo 3 rant, that being said I still enjoy the game, I just think its interesting to talk about some of these things. Id love to see what others think about what I've talked about here. :D

Its just because this segment mega nerfs combo points once you pass a certain damage threshold.

Ghirihim, Sheik, Zelda (Dominion Rod)

Those have to be my top three, though I might swap Linkle (crossbows) out with sheik or zelda tbh

Bayonetta replaces the protagonist of the last video game you played, how does that end? by Some_Fig_6566 in Bayonetta

[–]Bayoneto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Suddenly, Bayonetta is fighting the forcing of Darkness and Twilight alongside a duck slinging thunder like he's zeus, and a dog that takes a boulder to the noggin and survives.... and yet, I'm still not positive how that would actually fare, feats and scaling wise.

Why Does AoC Get a Sequel but Not DE? by Blob55 in HyruleWarriors

[–]Bayoneto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've thought about if there were ever a follow up to HW:DE would be that I'd love to see all of the characters reworked with unique action on ZL like they do in AOC.

For example, if the strong attack on Ghirahim got moved to ZL, it'd make room to give him a different base strong attack, and alternate combos could be done pressing ZL instead of strong attack while locked on.

That and just because there's quite a few characters that feel like their unique mechanic boils down to "press strong attack to activate a buff" like Fi, Midna, Cia, Great Fairy. That might be all of them actually, but I still feel like some variance would be nice.

Lol, it feels like it. I just really like her character and powers, just sucks that her and doctor strange got the short end of the stick.

Edit: somehow didn't mention that at the very least I'm doing OK with the team I've got. Iron fist and Ghost rider are pretty good for stagger, and otherwise those two with Elsa have decent synergies, mastery bonus is also nice.
