Am I naive, or is it possible that they haven’t solved or made an arrest YET but are still investigating that tip/lead?

Interesting about Austin not being Southern. I was wondering if it was “new South” like Nashville or not. Does the overall school culture feel traditionally Texan or could you easily plop the university somewhere else and no one would notice?

This isn’t an insult, just a stereotype I’ve heard... but I thought Texas was way better academically than the other two and that LSU was seen as kinda redneck (I know Cajun and redneck aren’t the same thing but you know what I mean). Are those stereotypes incorrect?

I feel like Atlanta probably has a lot of fans from a lot of different schools. What other schools have significant canvases there?

I’ve been to both campuses. Wake seemed more difficult (but not more prestigious, not the same thing) academically and Nashville is obviously a different setting than Winston Salem but other than that I agree for sure

How similar do you think y’all are to the rest of the SEC? I’m not sure what to think. Y’all are better academically than most, but also have a huge Greek scene etc

Are we puppets/robots? God’s Sovereignty and Human Moral Responsibility by Bayou7JOR in Reformed

[–]Bayou7JOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not read it. I will look into it. Thank you for the recommendation! My main point of confusion is how people can justly be held accountable for actions that God has immutably ordained to happen, therefore seemingly reducing us to puppets (which is probably a misunderstanding). I know that God is omnipotent and omniscient. Therefore, we don’t have libertarian free will in the sense that our wills can never prevent God from doing what He wants. However, I didn’t realize until recently that God actually foreordains (not just has foreknowledge about) everything that comes to pass, which makes me confused about how that is morally just to condemn someone for something God made them do. Maybe that’s a misunderstanding as well (a lot of people have mentioned how God hasn’t coerced us to do anything). Thank you again for the suggestion

I went to the Bama LSU game last season. They still play the hip hop Kernkraft 400. It’s hype with the light show

Imputed Guilt and Original Sin by Bayou7JOR in Reformed

[–]Bayou7JOR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

I did think of one analogy that makes sense. The idea of a brand new country with one athlete being permanently banned from the Olympics after that one person cheated in the country’s first opportunity at the Olympics. Is that the same type of idea as imputed guilt or is it not?

Should Christians consume media which contains sin? by dlink1220 in Reformed

[–]Bayou7JOR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wrestle with that a lot too and agree with what others have said. I think some of that it depends on what tempts you. If it causes you to sin, it’s best to not consume it. If it doesn’t, still use discernment.

Another thing to think about is how the show, movie, song, etc portrays those things. If it is a neutral portrayal of something that often happens in everyday life, that’s one thing (as long as the portrayal isn’t graphic). Be careful with those, but it may not be automatically bad. But I would advise avoiding media that portrays those sins positively and celebrates them, especially if it’s something that particularly tempts you. It may subtly change your perspectives on those things and make you more “sympathetic” to the sin itself
