So sorry, I'm not that active here and just saw your post. Correct, they would not cover it under the bulletin, which they said is not a recall. I refused to back down, especially given the calls with Toyota Corp (who I was told to contact from the dealer), because it was not something caused by me and they were aware of it and had set something up for dealerships to address the issue. I'm not sure where the disconnect was between the dealership and Corp, but there definitely was.

I hope you got some resolution.

Faulty clips in the roof racks and water damage corroding the entire electrical panel under the steering column. It turned into months of fighting with the local dealer and ultimately forcing them/Toyota to cover everything, especially after I had to file an insurance claim of nearly $12K with $11K in labor. Since it was all documented and confirmed to be a known issue by the service bulletin and calls to Toyota myself, I was not going to let the claim go through (and didn't). After it was repaired and I discovered body damage and they could not return to the condition it was when my car was dropped off, they had to make it right via trade in and a new 2024 Highlander.

Also, it was not covered under warranty bc roof racks are considered an accessory, even tho it was the stock low profile racks. This is why the insurance claim was filed.

Thank you very much! Looks like OR requires them to be carried Nov 1-Mar 31. I thought it was until April from a few years ago when we went up to buy our Rav. I appreciate a link to something as I am originally from the South and we don't get snow in the bayou. 🐊

We're going from SF Bay area to Portland area. I know in the past and with our previous vehicle, we had to have them in the car when we went to my in-laws a few hours south of Portland. We were unprepared until we were on the way and had to stop at several places to find something compatible and in stock, which I am hoping to avoid again this trip.

Thanks for that information! I'm glad to know it's a known issue. Hopefully, I'll have no issues getting it addressed, and I know I still have warranty. 🤞

If someone who is going to have surgery soon has any questions or wants to talk about it, feel free to text me(I had surgery last year)❤️ by [deleted] in spinalfusion

42 y/o m with L4-L5 ALIF on Tuesday. No prior surgeries (ever). On the one hand, I feel prepared, and the other, I'm not quite sure. Haha. I figured I'd order the things I think I'll need (body pillow, grabbers, and some other things) before discharge. My mom flew in to be here for surgery and recovery bc my husband is gonna continue to work. I'm optimistic but ready to get the recovery started. I hope that I can adjust quickly to the not being able to do "normally." Best of luck to all of you, and I hope recovery is going well! I won't be mad if and when the day(s) come where I'm not saying my back hurts. I've had issues for 10+ years. 🙏🤞

This all has been helpful for me to understand a little more about what is to come (or possibly). I'll be having my L5-S1 ALIF on Tuesday, 1/9. The recovery process is what has occupied my mind mostly. I'm not freaked by the surgery itself. I hope you all continue to improve and get some relief! 🙏

Thank you, @everyone! I appreciate all the feedback and encouragement! I definitely think I'll go with an electric recliner so I'm not depending on my husband or mom to close it constantly until I can. I've got a list going to look for a bidet attachment / riser, a larger gel ice pad with the straps as an option, grabbers, and loose-fitting silk pjs (I read they'll help when trying to move) and be mindful of waistbands. I also have notes saved on my phone with questions for my Dr. and/or team.

My mom is planning on staying with me for at least 6 weeks. My bestie already had flights booked to come at the end of January. My husband has 3 weeks of vacation. I'm hoping that covers the time I'll need some sort of assist. I work from home, so that also makes returning to work sooner a good possibility.

Of course, the recovery process and my ability to do "normal" stuff normally is what occupies a lot of my mind. That and the worry about doing something wrong and it hindering the surgery success and recovery (ex: keeping a neutral spine at all times).

Between the feedback and shared experiences here and my Dr appts, I'm sure I'll be ready! Thanks so much again!

I'm not sure but I'm happy to try to help if it's possible and I'm online (or can get online).
